Where do we realistically go from here?

This has clearly been a steady drop for a few years… in many aspects of the program. It has effecting everything from development to recruiting.

To get back, what realistically happens? Right or wrong, Dabo is NOT going to abandon his main goals of graduating players and preparation for life after football. That is not going to happen.

Knowing that, where does this program realistically go from here?

What do you mean “right or wrong” when you say he wants to graduate players?

How could that possibly be wrong??

Good grief!

The "right or wrong" part is based on the priority given to that goal. If we graduate 100% of our roster and it's full of 2/3 star players winning 6-7 games, is that better or worse than graduating 80% of a roster full of 4/5 star players winning 10+ games a year and making a playoff run?

As I said in another post - graduation rate is important, but it's secondary. Having a great graduation rate is irrelevant if you aren't winning games. Dabo wasn't hired to issue degrees.

Hmmm.. Good point.

So, why should we care if anyone gets a degree?

Why not a 0% graduation rate?
Then we could be really good.

They’re getting paid 6-7 figures now, that’s the difference. They afford to pay dear old Clemson to finish it out like most if us alumni had to. And they won’t even need to get that loan shark Sallie Mae involved

We’ve got like what 120 now? Maybe if we stoppped taking on charity cases who should be in FCS we wouldn’t have an issue with numbers. And if we stopped the whole “earned it because he’s a senior” nonsense and played who was actually better maybe they’d just leave on their own

Most 5 star players don’t care if they graduate college, most want as much $$$ as possible over a 3-5 year period then if possible hit the NFL for a few years. A college diploma is low on their list of priorities. If we want a good football team we need 5 star players. If they don’t care about graduating then that’s on them. These are grown men and college football is now a professional league of its own.

First thing is improve strength & conditioning. That has been a major part of the decline. Secondly, I'm not saying the entire staff, but a complete and sober evaluation of the assistant coaches resulting in more than a few changes. Thirdly and maybe most importantly an embrace of the portal. I'm not saying 20+ but more the 3. Lastly Dabo needs to do some self reflection. A team doesn't wind up where we are without some issues at the top. I think he got complacent and overconfident.

6 to 7 win seasons with an occasional 9-10+ win season once or twice a decade.

From Brandon Rink's article:

'After a momentary respite in wins over struggling UNC and BC teams, the cliff-dive continued Saturday with a third home loss and fifth-straight home defeat to a Power 4 opponent, 35-24 versus SMU.'

So let's put some of that in BOLD CAPITALIZED:

"...A THIRD HOME LOSS AND FIFTH-STRAIGHT HOME LOSS TO A POWER 4 OPPONENT"

MaClain's unsure the Tigers make a bowl. TNet staff gives Clemson coaches and players "F's" for performances.

These are not regional or national media seeking to discredit Clemson or pump up the SEC or B1G. These are men and women who love Dabo and Clemson Football.

The premise that TNet posters are Clemson and Dabo haters (with the exception of some Gamecock trolls) is largely a false premise ...

College football is dead, it has been replaced as a semi-pro league of the NFL. I would prefer that the NFL pay for their developmental league. SO in that vein form a 32 team league, 4 divisions. What about the rest? Well the go back under the good ole NCAA and only get scholarships a a bit of pocket money. Might be difficult to get used to a first but there you go.

If Dabo could've fixed our slide he would have done it.

That being said, what needs to happen next? Here's a short list:

1) Clemson Hires a Football GM that reports directly to the AD. GM has final say so on ALL staff hiring and firing decisions.

2) GM also manages the roster, and decides how many players at each position are needed, how many portal players to grab, how much to pay them, and any others.

3) GM fires every coach without at least 5 years prior coaching experience at another PWR 4 school.

4) GM allows any new OC or DC to hire his own staff, without any conditional holdovers from the current staff.

5). Dabo is told up-front that this is how Clemson is going to be run from here on out. It's a professional model now. He decides to stay, or leave. It's his choice. But if he stays, these are the conditions.
