Great question! Clemson almost always wears their orange jerseys at home—that’s been the consistent tradition in modern times. White jerseys are strictly reserved for road games, which is why it may never have clicked as a home color for you .

There’s no record in recent decades of Clemson ever pulling out the white jersey at home. The only exceptions to their typical look have been a few special, throwback, or alternate uniforms:
• 1995 vs. Georgia and 1996 vs. Furman: Clemson donned throwback uniforms modeled after the 1939 team as part of their centennial celebrations .

But those throwbacks were still worn at home—and even though they featured vintage styling, they weren’t plain white—they were era-specific designs.

So to directly answer your memory: As far back as anyone can remember, Clemson has not worn white jerseys at home in modern times. The home uniform remains the classic orange, with occasional purple when it’s Military Appreciation Day—and white is strictly an away color in their tradition.

No problem. Hope we get an answer. I was prompted by that post about the pic from 1963 but I've seen many pictures of Clemson at home wearing all white.

Did they come out & warm up in white & switch to orange before kick off? Maybe that set the precedent for the 1980 usuc game?
