What will it take?

For Dabo to prove us all wrong? That he was right all along.

I’ve been a long time Dabo pumper. One of my earliest tweets is about how both he and Danny got promoted internally and I speculated about him winning it all one day… he has!

But we’ve been sold a bag of air. Our offense is abysmal - especially in relation to the talent we have (on paper). Defensively, I think we are in a good spot.

But what would it take for Dabo to prove us wrong and have people like me smile at the end of the year?

Here’s what I need to see:

1. Win ACCG/Make Playoff (v likely you need both)
2. Win first game of playoff

What that probably means:

1. Win out - that means beat the Yardbirds too
2. Win ACCG - beat GT/FSU/Miami/Whompsteverelse
3. Beat a top 12 team in the playoff

Now, this is a slight improvement on last year. Doesn’t live up to this teams “potential” but still a step forward up the mountain in terms of where the progrum is.

If I’m honest: it ain’t happening. But prove me wrong ;)

I’m starting to also think JK’s criticism (and you’ve been better behaved as of late, JK) is well deserved.

But hey, we still have basketball season coming up ;)

Nothing will make you happy or people like you.
You have proven that the fact that you are not happy with Dabo's tenure as coach proves that.
Dabo never promised a Championship every season, Never ever did He promise that.
What He did say was his goal was to be consistent and by any measure or stretch He has been consistent.
Y'all go ahead and get rid of Dabo and see what happens to Clemson Football.

I am old I know but I do remember when being a fan meant supporting the team and pulling for your team!

just many aren't happy with the recent efforts by the team. Given all the hype and accolades preseason, so far it has been a huge disappointment. Criticisms have been valid and warranted, and Dabo doesn't seem to respond very well lately-critics and criticism some with the territory and for $11 million+/year he should be able to handle it better and get the team focused more on football and less on critics and social media.

So which players do you think are not trying hard enough?
That is a big accusation!
Now executing maybe a better complaint but effort?

Also it’s disrespectful to the teams Clemson played.

I watched the LSU game and they were very good.
Georgia Tech is very good!
Clemson could have beat LSU and they should have beat GT in my opinion.
But give credit where it’s due.
GT had not beaten Clemson in forever! They were bound to some time.

I didn't single out any person nor player for a reason, I stated "team" effort. The record/stats reflects this. Yes, LSU/GT are good teams...but elite teams (as we've been told over and over we are elite) find ways to beat good teams. Our O-line has been man-handled through 3 games. We rank 109th in total offense (hardly elite, not even good). We rank 74th nationally in total defense (hardly elite, not even good). It's why I stated "team".

You bought into the hype and now you are disappointed.
Where we stand on total offense or Defense after 3 Games is pointless.
The top ranked teams may have played cupcakes

Dabo and team spent a lot of time preseason telling us how elite they were with all the production coming back and was comparing the team to the undefeated squad. So much so that a certain linebacker (Woodazz) came out and said he was sick of being compared to them.
No, I didn't and don't buy into hype and that' irrelevant, I always have high expectations for my Tigers, I go by what we see and have on tape.
3 games isn't much for sure, but it is where we are and it shows the effort or lack thereof, put forth. Odd you say the top teams may have played cupcakes, there have been high level marquee matchups to start the season. We certainly shouldn't be considered a cupcake....we're a win for a couple of them teams.

Honestly, I agree with you. People pointing to Dabo as saying this team is elite, I think, are pointing in the wrong direction. It's the media and others that have hyped this team as elite. I think Dabo will agree that what you put on tape is what this, or any team, is. He may think this team can be elite and they may prove to be so, but until Dabo and the rest of us see it, they are not elite.

First post in the thread….guessing that is what was implied. Agree with them as well, if it was all just “fun” and you were as uninterested, unattached, happy and enjoying it all as a game, you might not even feel the need or hint of defensiveness to post a fairly in or out, all or nothing statement. Additionally and I’m genuinely curious, if you don’t care, why DO you care-to push your views of a fun game if you are completely happy with a team and coach you fully support, one if which and, please correct me if I missed it because I don’t want to misquote you, but I don’t think you had anything critical to say about the team, coaching, play etc., which is great. I’m happy you feel that way and agree with you that you really believe what you say.
I can hold two opposing views in my head, respect and support the team and fans while also calling out what are indeed facts and stats that show decreasing output. It is measureable, and consistent. These are standard metrics every team and player are ranked by, and no one can argue that the preseason hype from both within and outside the team is not aligned or performing as advertised. Arguing, discussing and contemplating the reasons are what fans do. They do it respectively because they support the team.
Quite literally, perhaps 1% of people posted about actually firing Dabo. Instead, people look to the leader, coach, ceo for answers and again, he’s not providing them in a direct manner. You prob don’t care as you view it as a game, but I’m sure many on here could answer this: when this season when asked a direct question about his leadership and coaching has he directly answered with a response that can be measured(or was even direct and related to HIM taking actual responsibility?
If you truly beleive fans really want him gone you are not reading this board or paying attention. People want accountability. It expected of each and everyone of us EVERY DAY why not a coach or team? People expect and want results. When results do not match projections people want to explore why that might be. To be defensive or all emotional about it does not reflect you see this as a game.
Some that yell the loudest and complain the most, actually really just care a lot about this team and the legacy of the school-and say how they really feel and disagree with you. It really shouldn’t be so personal-right.. it’s just a game after all.

Go Tigers!

Just play well against good teams. Even when we lost to Bama in the first National championship game- Dabo helped prove Clemson was for real. I was proud of our team after that loss. I want to see us play good football- not get propelled into a conference championship the same day we get pushed around by the Gamecocks. An ACC championship means nothing. Let's stop losing to inferior talent.

What was the score of that game?
Did Clemson have a chance to win it?

LSU is a very good team and Clemson had a chance .
Georgia Tech is a good team Clemson had a chance.

Maybe it’s not that Clemson played so poorly but that their opponents were pretty good. Maybe . Just a thought

You saw the game. I was there with my dad ('65 grad) watching us look like kids trying to tackle grown men (Sellers and the RB). A few Gamecock turnovers/mistakes deep in our territory kept the game closer than it was. It was clear they were the better team.

LSU and GA Tech were good teams, you're correct, and they both beat us as most of us figured they would because we rarely beat good teams anymore.
