What was the worst playcall of the season last year?

My vote was the trick-play, WR pass against the coots on that first drive.
Are there any other candidates?

I agree. That was completely terrible and the game changed for the worse because of it.

against the coots, then I would say that was the worst call.2nd and 4, we had just picked up 6 on a run by Harper, up 13 I believe at the time, end of the third quarter on that play...Is that right. Then, bam, a fade to NUK and he falls down. FSU, runs it out to the 35, puts in a new QB who runs the option....bam,bam,bam....tie it up and that dadgum gazelle kicked a 55 yarder with time running out that cleared the cross bar by 25 feet. Would have been good from 70! We lost.

timeouts before the half that ended up giving the other team a few shots... almost bit us a few times.
but yea that WR pass in SC game was just stupid all around. stupid call, stupid bad throw by sammy. stupid bad attempt by WR to make a play on the ball. Only thing not stupid was the good play by the coot.

Odd. Had that play worked, we would be discussing if it was the BEST call of the year!!! Monday morning quarterbacking!

I disagree. I was horrified the second I saw Sammy looking to pass.

The playcall was so bad because we were absolutely owning them on that drive. Why try a high risk play when your qb is passing well, your rbs are running well and your line is handling the defense? The idea of it was bad, not just the outcome.
Save trick plays for when you may actually need them. Trick plays work more when the D has been shown a certain thing, and they get used to it. Once they think they know what's happening and try to cheat, that's when trick plays work best. Not on the first drive when you are killing the D already.

Definitely not. I'm sure I'm not alone on this one, but as soon as I saw that coming together I yelled out loud at the TV. We were moving the ball at will against them and there was absolutely no reason to do that.
Had the play worked we wouldn't have been calling it a great play call, we'd be saying "wow we got lucky with that".

I think the general feeling, and one of the few remaining question marks in the minds of folks, is why even think about pulling something like that out when what you're doing is working so well.
It wasn't "Well, let's test them deep and see how they react." It was "Let's show off a bit." And anytime you do that, there's an inherent risk of something going terribly wrong.
Which it did. I firmly believe if we stayed on the ground, gotten the score and moved on from there, we wouldn't be so infested with Capons now.
But because someone wanted to be cute, the game went sideways fast. Hitting that pass wouldn't have accomplished much more than saying we could get lucky as well as cute. Shoving the ball down an opponent's throat says much more. Destroy their ego before worrying about inflating your own.
Which, I hope, is what we'll continue doing the next time the opportunity arises. I don't want to be cute against the Capons. I want them utterly crushed.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!! that poor play call turned the entire game around and let the c$$ts know that we would make mistakes ( read turnovers) and that they had won another

making Billy Napier OC of the "flex option" offense was the worst.
