It was about some group wanting to get rid of racial slurs in nfl locker rooms, but to me it kinda got offensive. Maybe I misunderstood but I thought Stephen a smith referred to white America as villains and perpatrators.

The N word is one that is divided culturally

Nov 22, 2013, 7:24 PM

Not by skin color. IMO speech controll is nearly logically pointless when it comes to labels. As far as the N word is concerned I think it would have to be Taboo in all cultural circles including black ones so that anyone that used it could be judged harshly. Right now the question is who is and isn't an outsider when it comes to the circle of people can use that word. Funny that ESPN was thrown through a loop when the Dolphin locker room declared Richie an Insider and Martin an outsider. Kind of defied the traditional race lines that the media would love to divide us by.

As long as we continue to promote the multicultural theme

Nov 23, 2013, 6:44 AM

we will not make any progress. The introduction of the concept of multiculturalism was a means by the statist to divide this country. We are of one western culture comprised of many races and nationalities that have made unique contributions to create the American culture.

I'm a white male, I wasn't really offended...but it was a bit aggravating with how Stephen A Smith worded it. Saying we have no place to say how the N word should or shouldn't be used, just because we were the ones that made it bad in the first place. First of all, nobody alive today had anything to do with that! Stop using that as an excuse. Its history, get over it! He doesn't like that white people say "If we can't say it then blacks shouldn't either" But in my opinion its not like that. Most of us think of it like this.....If blacks are going to get offended and claim racism every time another race uses the word, then stop using the word yourselves and using it all together. But bottomline is, that word will never go away by either race. Their are to many people in the world and its just not going to go away. However I do feel something can be done about it in the sports world and even in music. If they can cut the "word" out in those 2 areas I think it would help a lot in todays culture.

We are guaranteed the right to free speech even if it's stupid.

As a white guy, I didnt find it offensive, I just think its a stupid conversation. We all learned in 2nd grade that if you dont want someone to call you a name, just ignore it and it will go away. The reason the N word remains prevalent is because of the reaction. If there was no reaction to the word, the word would have no power. However, because there is an anger response the word remains powerful. Take the word cracker for example, Ive never seen a white guy get angry about being called a cracker and to this day, it holds no power. So in my opinion, use of the word does not need to be restrained or restricted as that would only give the N word more power, instead it would be more productive to restrain the reaction.

It is clear...

who the REAL racists in this country are now. And yes, I agree that there is a political motivation of division promoting that racism.

As a child I was taught that two wrongs don't make a right.
