The kids are watching a movie (we spent the entire weekend camping up at Mt Pisgah and they are tired), and I have some free time. So for the next half hour, til 3:30 or so, I will try to answer any baseball questions you have. Fire away.

Personally? I am not sure there was anything Clemson or the coaches could have done, after a certain point, to keep Billy. I remember a presser we had where Erik Bakich looked over at Billy and said, hey, if we cut you, you would bleed orange, right? And Billy said yes. That turned out to not be the case. I think there are a lot of hurt feelings going all the way back to the grandad.

I like the Marchal kid coming in from Wofford. They are looking at a few other arms, but really like what they have now. Need to get two of three of these back - Ammons, Hughes, Clayton. Get two of those and you gotta feel really good.

No we need some Starters, middle, closers that throw mid to upper 90s with good movement and off speed junk. Our pitchers just don’t have what we need to get to the CWS unfortunately.

What baseball positions will Clemson possibly look into the Transfer portal to fill some needs. Certainly batting % also has to be a consideration and a need.

Grice and Ingle....and Hughes, Clayton, Ammons all have a chance to go. But I said in an earlier post, getting two of those three pitchers back would be huge.

The deadline to enter your transfer paperwork in 2023 will be July 13 for the first window.
The second window for spring student-athletes will be December 1-15.

Cannon Peebles - C/DH from NC State - any chance we'd give him a look elsewhere in the field? Switch hitter. Can also pitch.
Alex Stanwich - OF from Tennessee - highly rated prospect that did not play for the Vols this year
Payton Greene - IF from NC State - Fair line
Andrew Fischer - IF from Duke - Solid freshman season, could fill in a spot. Has power and decent average
Peyton Chatagnier - 2B from Ole Miss - Lots of power, solid 2b, Championship experience
Payton Tolle - 2-way player from Wichita State - probably not as solid of a chance as others, but fits the Caden Grice mold a bit.

What’s the thought at shortstop?
Does the staff think we have the talent to get to the next level there?
Seemed like we didn’t get the defense and the situational hitting out of that position when it really counted this year, but baseball is a streaky sport

I was a huge baseball card fan in the late 80's. While not that special I have new condition Ken Griffey Jr rookie cards from all the major card makers from back then. He was my favorite player back then.
