What should our game plan be on offense?

Aug 31, 2022, 1:36 PM

I really hope we can focus on the run game first and open up the passing lanes. I'd also like to see us throw more to the tight ends and the slot. Run some easy routes to get DJ in rhythm and also some timely screens to Shipley to let him run in space and also get the backs on a few check-down throws out of the backfield. Surprise them with a few down-the-field throws and work the middle on crossing routes more than the down-and-out corner throws. All of this should also open up some QB running lanes that allow DJ to take advantage of some of the weight loss and faster speed.

I know we have the talent to become a good offense; we just have to go out and prove it. GO TIGERS!

If they are going to run the 'air raid' offense, then they have to throw the ball. Even though Clemson ought to be able to run all day on our first three opponents, Coach Dabo and coach Streeter will want to establish that offensive philosophy, so pass the ball.

Another key that I should have mentioned would be to get back to the up-tempo game and shoot for 100 plays on offense. I know they have been working on that so I'm excited to see the improvement.

Hopefully, we can be better on 3rd down. We wore out defense down last year with all of the three and outs. We need a few first downs per drive just to let the defense catch its breath and cut down on some of those "overuse" injuries.

As a player/coach for the Backyard Bowl, "everyone go long" was an effective offense plan.

GT will stack the box and force Clemson to throw.

Aug 31, 2022, 2:41 PM

We will have to throw the ball to open up the run game. I hope we see the TE alleviating some of the pressure with some plays in the middle of the field.

There's something in these hills.

I think you are probably right. Teams were certainly effectively doing that to us last year and until we prove we can adjust to it, they will keep right on doing it.

Throw the football. We know we can run it but lets face this O will only be as good as they can pass the ball. A running offense will not win a playoff game.

Take out the pin and pop that bubble! I say let's open it up. Definitely more passes to our TEs over the middle. Will make the other plays much easier.

I'll add my 2 cents worth.

A tried and true offensive philosophy is "Take what the defense gives you."

I hope to see a full scale departure from Tony Elliot

No more predictable vanilla bubble screen nonsense. Please and thanks. Rain down the TD's ya bums!

10 TD’s on the first 10 possessions. The rest will take care of itself.
