I don't see Dabo getting fired mid-season (in any season) given what he's done for the university's athletic department. Having said that, if the team continues to lose this season and ends up with a losing record I would think they'd have to have a serious discussion with him...

Only an idiot would fire him , or all of the coots on Tnet trying to stir up negativity.

Not trying to stir up anything at all, but a lot of comments around what they would do if the 60M buyout wasn’t in the way. I was just curious to see how many would still want him gone and would say so.

I see what you mean now. I was trying to address the “stirring up” comment and inadvertently stepped into the “coot trap,”

Clever catch on your part ;). TU to you!

Is it? A lot of people complaining hide behind the buyout being an obstacle. Fine, hypothetically, I removed the obstacle. Now, tell us how you really feel. Are you still as emboldened as you were or are you kind of slithering away from some original comments, or adding qualifiers to your stance?

I just thought it was an interesting way to cement how people really feel and apparently, there aren’t as many ready to kick him to the curb right now as they were making it sound.

No, but I would have a serious conversation about the future of the program, NIL, portal, recruiting, coaching staff, etc.

Of course not - People are crazy . Dabo is the best coach we have ever had . Things have changed- NIL , Portal .. etc .. we will right the ship - I have already bet a friend of mine that we are about to reel of 10 straight- play for the ACC and a playoff birth.

Specifically, how does he plan on navigating this current era of NIL, transfer portal, etc.? How will he more fully embrace these tools that our competitors are using a lot better than we are?

Also, how will he address the poor development of many players in recent years?

He needs to know that these last 5 years do not warrant what we are paying him. He has earned the right to be given more time to figure things out, based on all that he has done for our program in the past, but that history does not mean that we must be good with a declining program.

If we continue to slip this year and next, and remain with an unimpressive record against the best teams on our schedule, then we would need to start talking about looking for someone who can do better here.

Of course, I am not convinced that Dabo would be able to have a lot of introspection and humility, nor do I believe that he truly wants to adapt to the level that he probably needs to. I have been shocked by the blatant arrogance and narcissism he has displayed recently. That press conference yesterday was something I would expect from a petulant child, not an elite football coach.

Agree. I'd give him 2 yrs. to get better. If he didn't want to get better and wanted to move on, so be it.

I'm telling you guys, Dabo is not going to be fired from Clemson University, and it has little to do with his buyout. Nobody in the history of the University has done for the football team, the Athletic Department, The University and the town what Dabo Swinney has done. So you may as well let it go and enjoy the rest of the season. I'm not a "pumper," just a realist who chooses to accept the reality I cannot change. I highly recommend it. Go Tigers!

I would meet w/ BOT and President to get their support for the following:

Discussion w/ Dabo about his plan for being more competitive against top 25. You remember Dabo has a MBA, he is brilliant and has kept a notebook for 25 years on best practices. If he has no plan and refuses direction, we start talking termination.

Would require him to offer a budget cutting 16% of operating budget. He refuses? Termination discussions begin.

Would require him to cut personnel by 10% for three consecutive years.

OR TELL ALL OF US GRIPERS TO SHUT UP. Our loudest ARE PROBABLY NOT OUR MONEY GUYS. BECAUSE EVEN AS I TYPE STEPS SICK ON STOMACH. I LOVE OUR FOOTBALL COACH AND THINK HE CAN ADJUST ANDMEET HIS HIGHEST GOALS.

Typo for 16. Meant 15. Have an idea of operating costs - number used 20 years ago when we had $$$$ trouble.

Personnel costs? Probably 200 fb employees. In three years helps get to just over 100. Coach gets to decide essential personnel personnel.

I want him gone and I’ve made that clear.

How many cases are there out their of a HC that accomplished what he did… then lost it for multiple years and then came back to win championships again in college football?

I still want to compete for national titles and not just ACC titles and even that is becoming harder to accomplish by the week now.

However I’m no fool… I know he isn’t going anywhere unless he just chooses to.

After a 6-6/5-7 season… which I promise you is coming after this season if he doesn’t radically change and start using the portal… after one or 2 seasons like that then we’ll see if people are still backing him.

As I said 3 years ago… we will never win or even truly compete for a national title under Dabo again. I’m sorry but that’s the standard now bc it’s been proven it can be done at Clemson.
