What if Cade opts for the Draft

Many have said that if it were pretty much a lock that he would go in the 2nd round of the draft it would be a no brainer for him to go. Are any of the current guys capable of stepping up and playing at a high level?

From what I have seen I wouldn't feel so confident if Cade left in who we have left. If Cade leaves, you might see some of our young talent enter the portal.

This is something that we definitely don't want to happen. I think Cade, if he stays, has the season of his life next year.
I wouldn't blame him for declaring but....definitely not something I wanna see.

That he would have the season of his life next year is a strong statement considering he just had a season with 3600 yards passing, 36 td, only 6 interceptions (a couple off deflections) and over 400 yards rushing and 7 TD.
I mean 4,100 total yards and 43 total TDs is pretty amazing. If he exceeds that he's definitely a Heisman finalist next year.
Yet if a running back emerges I could see it if Wesco, Brown, Moore, and Williams return.

Maybe, but they always want to get done with their rookie contract in the NFL. I agree though that money shouldn't be an issue for next year. Maybe he ends up a 1st rounder after another year in college football anyway. Maybe he wins the Heisman. Maybe the teams does great. He has to be excited about the offense he will have.

At $3.5M, I betcha that Clemson matches that (or gets very close) as a counter offer.
If there is some ~ $10M offer that a rich fanatic is willing to toss out there (such as what Barstool Sports guy Dave Portnoy coughed up so that MI would get [Underwood ?]), then I can’t imagine Clemson’s boosters going to that circus.

I don't see Cade as a big-time NFL prospect. He is more likely to be out of the league in a few years than to sign a huge contract. I would take the guaranteed money right now.

If you look into the HS of the high profile QBs that were acquired via the portal by the rich and famous schools, you will notice that many of them were under the radar HS players who started their college careers at ‘nobody cares’ schools. Not Power 4 schools. These low rated QBs typically transfer the first time to Middle Tennessee State type schools, put up big numbers, and only then transfer to a Power 4 college.
Given who we’ve got now (Vizzina and … is the new guy’s name Chris Denson), I think we’ll be a respectable team (I.e., legit contender again for ACC Championship) in 2025 even if CK2 leaves. We’ll be a legit Top 10 team (at worst) if CK2 stays and remains healthy.
Dabo stood strong behind Cade Klubnik during his first not-great seasons. He could have gone the portal route for this past season and gotten a guy who would have beaten CK2 out. Who knows how well CK2 would have adapted to a different team’s offensive scheme? There’s a good chance that, had CK2 decided to transfer before start of 2024 season, that he might not have adjusted quickly enough to the other school’s offensive scheme to become a star QB for his transfer school. Thus, as his Senior 2025 season opened, CK2 would have still been an unknown still-in-development QB instead of a well known established star who was positioned to finish polishing his game before going to the NFL as a ready to start pro QB.
As long as Clemson is reasonably competitive vs other big NIL spender schools, and as long as his NFL pre-draft grade is 3rd round or lower, then he’d be foolish to leave Clemson.

I just can't help but feel he needs one more year. He only has one good season of tape, if he comes back he could play hi way into the 3rd round. As is stands, he would probably go anywhere from 3rd round to UDFA. One more year of development, and he could be special at the next level. He has some stuff that HAS to be addressed before going pro. The big one is timing on deep shots. Often this year, receivers had to stop running and wait on his deep ball. Now, he definitely improved there. He was dropping absolute dimes against Texas. But he needs a prove it year, as far as the NFL is concerned. OF course this is partially me huffing copium. I think Cade is Him, and I really want him back next year. Because I think we compete for a Title next year if he does.

I can see a scenario where an SEC tm offers him some compensation to transfer

but i'm not seeing him as a 2nd rounder in the NFL draft. I'd say maybe 4th if he gets in. His money is in college. Not saying he can't make a roster in the NFL but him not being 6-2 will be a tough sell for NFL scouts. He plays in college next year and wins a CFP trophy then that will squelch any of the naysayers and prove he's got a winning skillset.

I don't know the answer. $5 million to $25 million would be my guess. In either case it would be more than the highest NIL in college, The untold story of college NIL is that those contracts usually get prorated over a long period of time. So a $3mil college deal might only net the college player $100K a year at the most.

If he was leaving, Dabo would know, and Dabo would go all in on Air Noland. I’m sure Dabo is aware of his intentions.
