No "hate" involved...this is just a game after all. I DO wish they had a worthy program befitting a top notch rivalry.
So much to dislike and stupid in one place...
- Essentially tradition-less
- Self flagellating mascot -- chicken coot ####, what have you
- so many made-up or stolen pseudo-traditions, fire ant defense, black magic, towel twirling, 2001 space odyssey entrance (What the?), bush-league fire extinguishers. Hey maybe this new gimmick thing will push us on to the next level and make our players supermen or something...always the same ole same ole.
- 'Bama mouth, Vandy trophy case, etc etc.
- Team logo sucks, but hey you can only do so much with a chicken after all.
- The state's official party school and all its associated low end red-neckary.
Imagine if we had a rivalry like a Nebraska/Oklahoma or Ohio St/Michigan or Bama/Auburn, storied high profile, highly respectable traditions on both sides. I would welcome such a thing and would make our kicking their butts soooo much more meaningful. As it stands now, it's a game we need to win and move on to the next much bigger thing. We play this thing to not lose. However the win, while always nice, rings rather hollow in the big picture.
Clemson has that respectable profile, but our lame-butt rival's got squat!!
I would be happy to just drop the game with them entirely because of this nonsense. Pick up a Georgia or Auburn or Tennessee or just about anyone for that matter to replace their sorry selves.

Wait there's a rivalry? I kinda see it more like the UConn/UCF rivalry. UConn can't wait to play and UCF is like, "wait, there's a rivalry?" I mean 66-42-4 does not really equate to a rivalry...

in the Columbia area for over 40 years, I have had close neighbors and friends who are of the feathered persuasion.
But for the life of me I can't help but crack a grin every time I hear that ole bird screeching to the tune of 2001 while muttering under my breath: Peck, chicken, peck!!!! lol
