Nobody is asking dabo to build a team with he portal. It woild be nice to replace outgoing transfers with incoming transfers and maybe huge positions of need like qb over the last 3 years, or an olineman or 2. Take 2-4 transfers per year and it would help out our team immensely

He clearly doesn’t when it comes to this era of the transfer portal.
Top 10 recruiting classes, but not top 10 teams. We lose our share of players to the portal, but don’t get any that way. We are always a young team.
It isn’t working.

Judge, since you’re a basketball guy, I’d like to know if you’re satisfied with the basketball team’s use of the portal? Is it working? It hasn’t won a conference championship, an ACC tournament championship or a national championship. Just asking.

I think using the portal is a slippery slope. You bring two guys in for two that left. The next year the two guys on the bench that were waiting their turn decide no need to wait because a transfer is going to take their playing time. The only way a player becomes elite is by coaching plus playing time. I know the argument is the transfer is better that is why he is playing ahead of other player. But the younger player on bench may have a greater ceiling if he can get playing time. Im not sure Clemson has deep enough pockets to get the elite players out of the portal.

stop acting like Clemson is some poor farm school when EVERY OTHER FBS TEAM IN THE COUNTRY (sans army/navy/AF) uses the portal to better their roster in some way, shape, or form. Money is NOT the reason we don't portal......Dabo's approach is.

For the 15 thousandth time,just because Clemson offers a portal player doesn't mean we are going to get them. Most impact players in the portal are already bought and paid for.

We have the players we have and we're all in with our guys. If we had added two all Americans in the portal he'd be talking about how excited he was to have two new pieces.

It means that the same type of players that were at Clemson and left to enter the portal to try and get on a team where they could get more playing time, those same type of players are leaving the teams they signed with for the exact same reason, wanting more playing time, and they will do the same thing that the guys that left Clemson were doing, watching from the side lines without much if any playing time...
That would be like Dabo calling up a coach at FSU and telling him, hey, I got this LB that don't get to play much, but I will trade him for one of yours that don't play much. The portal isn't a treasure chest with a bunch of elite players waiting for a team to be the first to crab them up...
