Went camping deep in the woods this weekend, and just

Oct 23, 2022, 9:12 PM

finished watching the game without knowing who won. now wished I would’ve just looked at the score. What a stressful, white knuckle game. I’m sure my neighbors think I’m insane now

Yeah, I did that once. It was Orange Bowl vs WVU.

I'll never do that again.

I couldn't look as I turned the game back on and things looked good for Cuse near the end. When I turned back the next game was on. Had something to do for a little while but knew we won as they weren't announcing it every minute.

Don't know what you did to deserve that!***

Surprised all the animals in the woods weren't talking about our comeback against the Cuse.

LOL, back in the late 70's, I owned one of the first VCR

Oct 24, 2022, 9:24 AM

recorders of any of my friends, living and working in the Charleston area as a single guy at the time. I was working swing shift back then, and when we were on 4 to 12 shift, I would set the machine up to record "Monday Night Football", and invite as many of the guys as wanted to come over, to watch it as soon as we got off work.

Needless to say, there were ######### who were envious, and would try to go out of their way to let us know what the final score was, and who won. Kudoes to you for actually being able to watch without knowing, and get the actual feel of the game.

(BTW, that first VCR would come on and record, off ONE channel, ONE time, until the tape ran out. Your only real option was tape speed, where you could get two hours, four hours, or six hours out of a single tape. For that luxury, I paid $1200 for that machine, and was in heaven. I originally had only a big Black and White TV at the time, and was AMAZED, when I finally got a Color TV, to find that my older VCR tapes had recorded in COLOR! DUUUH!)

$1200 for a VCR. Had you lost your mind?

Before they quit selling them years ago, you could get one for under $50. But tbh, I think I payed about $350 for my first one early 80s. Looking back now, its seems kind of silly that we stood in video stores for 30 minutes trying to decide on a movie to rent by looking at the box covers. If it had a hot female on it, it was always a definite possibility.

That was the going price for them when that tech was brand

new. And, as a single "audiopile" back then, I had to have the newest thing, especially if not many others had it.

:)
