USuC's Schedule an Advantage?
Sep 25, 2012, 4:16 PM
|
|
Has anybody else found it curious that the Coots recent bout of success against Clemson seems to correlate "strangely" with their favorable scheduling of late?
What I mean is this: in 2010 USuC played Troy while Clemson took on Wake, last year USuC played Citadel while we played at NC State, and again this year they play Wofford while we play host to NC State.
A friend of mine said recently that Clemson was getting ready to move one of their annual FCS or mid-major games to the week before we play USuC. Has anyone else heard this, or does anyone have any evidence to support this claim? Further, would this be a good or bad move by Clemson in everyone's opinion?
I see the positives as a chance to rest some of our players the week before we play USuC, and it could give our players and coaches additional time to gameplan for the Coots.
I guess the negatives would be less time to get adjusted and prepare our younger players early on in the season.
Thoughts?

I have said this several times before. Wofford is not going to be the typical cupcake for USUC this year. Wofford is going to pound and pound away at them. Not saying USUC is going to lose, but Wofford is going to show up and no stop until it's over. Wofford is ranked #5 in FCS btw. Not a cupcake, ask Michigan about high ranking FCS teams...

Yeah its gonna be a BS game. Triple option teams limit the number of times you even get the ball. This game will be 35-21 or something like that.

and Clemso has finally taken steps to level the playing field. Starting in 2013, Clemson plays The Citadel the week before the $CU game.

I see that now orangetiger, which is strange to me I guess only because it was my understanding that teams in the ACC have no say over what week their bye falls. I guess in the SEC teams can say, do, schedule, accept anything/anyone they want with no regard for the rules...

CRUSH November schedule that included ARK, Tenn and FL in November for many years. Imagine playing VaTech, FSU and GaTech in the three weeks before our game, then do it for over 10 years. Think it would make a difference?
Also, Tigers had Open Week once just before our game. An Open date that late is never good, needed much more near the middle of the season.

they always seem to give FBS a hard time mainly because of the option, if spurrier doesn't want to prepare for them he wont be having that fun of a saturday.

In the last three years Clemsons schedule as looked like this the week before the Carolina game:
Last year Clemson played a NC State team that was 5-5 2010 it was Wake Forest who was 2-8 2009 Clemson played Virginia who was 3-7
How is that any different than playing an FBS team or having an open week?

USuCk is not a great football team

They seek every advantage they can, even if they have to cheat, play injured players, or schedule cup cakes. Even the old ball sack said they haven't beaten a team with a winning record. Let's face it, this is Dabo's year. He has the better talent and better assistant coaches. Yes, FSU was a disappointment, but the season still looks promising for the Tigers, our players are too talented to get beat 4 times in a row by those thugs in columbia.
