We played a good game today and DJ looked good...

...with the exception of a few mistakes, DJ played his best game of the year. The running game was on point, the O-Line did better than expected and the defense stepped up when it counts.
Overall I thought we played our best game of the season in terms of offensive play.

How did Dj sucked? He led us on 3 different drive down the field where we got 0 points. Three missed field goals. He had one bad int tonight that’s it. If you hate the kid just say you hate him. The hate is consuming you to the point you can’t see the truth.

He missed wide open guys, ran like junk, and fumbled as well which could have cost us the game. Other than that you are right on the money.

The interception was bad in that he stared down the receiver, but it was 30 yards down field on 3rd down. The outcome was almost as good as a punt. I thought that he was fairly accurate when he wasn't running for his life. You would have thought that he would have felt Johnson, but he didn't miss the block on the fumble.
The part that I would disagree with was the O-line playing well. Florida State lived in the backfield both on the run and the pass.

You are blind and clearly don’t understand game stats. DJ had 189 yds and stared down every single receiver he was intending to pass to. Pathetic.

By the way, I have been one of his biggest defenders on here. He sucked today. No way around it. He had an awful fumble and he through into double coverage. His QB rating was ad as well. I like the kid. I am just objective. He sucked today by en elite program's standards,

His pocket awareness is complete crap. He has no feel for the pass rush snd is playing like a QB who wasn’t recruited but was a walk on due to his size. Concrete feet, simply can’t get out of his own way.
There is no way I believe he is as bad as he has played. It appears the staff coaches and DJ himself are clueless as to his issues but he stares down receivers, threw several passes that Shipley & Birningstool caught that were way off target.
His best game of the year, maybe. But that’s not saying much snd this offense was saved by the hard running of Shipley. DJ handed FSWho the lead. How much time does he think he has in the pocket, unlimited ?? Sooooo much to figure out that everything he tries to change just confuses him more. Unable to audible, RPO is useless since he cannot run or simply isn’t willing to go full speed which is unacceptable. He is slowest QB, even Elway & Manning & Brady look like track stars compared to him this year. Last year he ran a 30 yard RPO keeper, he was moving well and now this year he looks like his feet are in glue.
I do not understand. His regression is baffling. Oline play is bad but his decision making is the bigger issue

Serious question. On 3rd and 6, do you have ANY confidence that he can make the 1st down pass? I think he made ONE out of TEN today. (I could be exaggerating, but not by much).

The whole team has had a down year. The oline isn’t very good. Wide receivers are relatively down this year. And yes DJ has played bad at times but it’s a team effort. So many people hate the kid soo much. They put every on him. He led us down the field on 3 different drives this game and we missed 3 field goals. They still blame Dj. The dline destroyed our tackle and stripped sacked Dj, they blame Dj. It’s crazy.

This is just so dumb. The offense is one of the 5 worst in the country statistically. This was the first game where they scored more than 20 points against an FBS team. But let's look at just today. He threw for 189 yards (terrible). He had a nice touchdown throw. And one of the worst picks I've seen in a while deep in our own territory. He also fumbled the ball leading to FSU taking the lead in the fourth quarter, and threw a terrible screen pass that was definitely going to lead to a fumble/pick. So we're talking three bad turnovers. He also took some bad sacks that ended drives.
But you want to keep talking about him taking us "down the field" three times and missing three field goals. Never mind that he couldn't finish any of those drives against the #80 scoring defense. But let's look at those drives. On the first drive, we got the ball on our own 25 and made it to the FSU's 31. However, on that drive, DJ was 1/5 for 14 yards. That doesn't sound like he led us down the field. I'd say it was more likely it was the two backs who had 24 yards rushing. On the second drive, we got the ball on FSU's 49, driving the ball to the 20. That's not leading us down the field. Also, it came because of a single completion. On the third drive, we got the ball on FSU's 46 (so again, not leading the ball down the field). On that drive he was 0/4, but we got within field goal range because of a penalty and 18 yards by Shipley.
So on the three drives you're hanging your hat on, DJ was 1/9 for 14 yards, and two of those drives started in Seminole territory.
Look, I really don't have an issue with you or DJ. But I have a real problem with someone who misleads about the cold, hard facts and declares anyone pointing out an issue is a hater or a Gamecock fan. I don't dislike DJ. I thought he'd be a better passer than TL. I was wrong. But he has no place leading this team. And it's not just him. The playcalling has been abysmal. The offensive line is not good at pass protection. And the wide receivers do drop a lot of passes (though I still maintain that mostly because of the way he throws the ball). But he's the quarterback, so the spotlight is on him. And there are only 2 P5 QBs worse than him in the country. My personal feelings have nothing to do with it. Facts are facts.

Yeah, if he has a family crisis (the jury still seems to be out about that), then that sucks for him. But if I let personal life affect my job, I'm the one in trouble. If he can't handle it, I understand, but he needs to sit down until he works things out. It's not fair to his teammates who work hard every week for him to keep playing so poorly because his heart/mind are elsewhere.

Maybe the coaches that evaluate the talent on the TEAM on a daily basis believe he is still the best option to get us a win?

He had some horrible throws to open receivers.
Stared down a receiver to allow double coverage and then threw it anyway for the interception.
It wasn’t good.

No..equal to expectation as poorly as he has played this year, but he sucked for a QB for a team that wants to be elite. If he were playing for Bama or any other top team it would be considered an awful game. It's just reality. We won inspite of his poor play. That's the truth.

No doubt, his game play has been bad, but the kid doesn't deserve to shoulder the teams lackluster play. That blame is spread across the entire team. If he were playing like he did last year. The quality of receiver play would still hamstring this team. This young team in totality will get better. Look at the beginning of the game. When blocks are being made, and receivers are catching balls, and Shipley and Mafah are running like scalded dogs...the potential is evident. If DJ went to the portal, do you really think Puma could carry the season? We would be worse then what we are now.

I respectively have to disagree. We won in spite of DJ. The wide receivers, the oline, and the running backs stepped up big time. As well as the D played lights out. Can't put too much on Potter for missing a 50 yarder.
The receivers made some good plays despite ball placement by DJ. That last drive was a couple of very fortuitous penalties.

What is up with that? Can’t he see that this play is going to get blown up?
They have to have ANOTHER READ for DJ in this conditions to allow him to “check down” or something.
I think I saw at least FOUR (4) of these types of throws in today’s game.
So, NO, I don’t think he played that well. RGIII even gave his opinion that there was “more bad, than good” from DJ5.

Shipley was great and the D came through for us. DJ was better than he’s been all season, but a long way from good. Maybe very early spring season form, but a long way to go. We even had a few WR catches and a great catch for a TD by a TE. OC is still clueless but a win is a win - Go Tigers !!!!!

Just because DJ “played his best game of the year” doesn’t mean he played good. That’s like saying the dump I took today smelled the best it had in weeks. Who cares because it still stinks!
He is missing open guys left and right. He is making the wrong reads over and over. He locks in on his primary and refuses to come off him and find an open man. His awareness is just horrible. He’s turning the ball over.
I feel bad for the guy but the reality is he’s getting paid a bunch of money and he’s not performing.

DJ did jot play well today and is a below average D1 QB. However the defense was lights out, yet again, and the backfield tandem was fantastic. I did dust off the ole #27 jersey to wear today and I believe some of that Raymond Priester juju rubbed off on Shipley...

DJ certainly didn’t look good 3 TOs, 17 net points. He was inconsistent throwing the ball, had no pocket awareness, and made poor decisions.
Shipley and Mafah were great though.

DJ has to be one of the worst five QBs in America. NO doubt about it. Too heavy, doesn't make solid quick decisions, can't throw consistently. It's all bad! TP should start against Louisville and UConn.

Dabo is that you?
Shipley played a good game, Ross played a good game, Ngata played a good game.
DJ did NOT play a good game. Count the behind the scrimmage line plays blown up Count the bad throws that did get caught but couldn't get extra yards because the angle they were thrown was horrible. Count the number of times DJ rushed and looked like he was wearing 100lb concrete shoes Count the number of times DJ's timing blew up plays in FSUs favor Count the number of incomplete passes on 3rd down thrown away because DJ was slow to read-react
While the Offense as a whole looked better and played better, DJ himself did not improve where he was the positive difference maker in the game.
Lets be brutally honest here... after this game DJ should give his NIL contract to Shipley for saving his ###.

IMHO the play calling is still suspect. Look at the 3rd down play where he's rolling to his right and only 2 receivers are in the route. One is triple covered, the other double covered. DJ throws it away. What else is he supposed to do?

I will agree with you there. When you call the same plays in the same situations that all of Tnet is complaining about, you have to suspect that the defense is prepared.

Thunder Thighs looked awful except for 2 throws. He scored for the other team. Again. You can see the animosity the whole team has for him in their body language. Shipley and Mafah carried him all night. The rest of the team pulled this game out in spite of DJU, not because of him.

I agree with you about the animosity. I saw it when he attempted to celebrate a TD and everyone ignored him. Where did you see it?

Mostly the last Shipley TD celebration - DJ got the hard, cold shoulder from all the guys on the field. Also after the game while the officials were reviewing the final TD, he was chatting with FSU guys, not celebrating with teammates. I just get the feeling he is not fitting in.

Today was another question. I don't see the connection between receivers and QB. Just don't see him as a leader.
Please help me - When did he annoint himself as "Big Cinco" ?? Seems he's spending too much time looking for stardom to substantiate NILs.
The only players I remember giving themselves names were CJ and Sammy. And they back it up with their play.

For what it’s worth, a macro look at the O.
PITT DJ:7 net points/9 drives=.78 ppd TP:3 net points/2 drives=1.5 ppd FSU DJ:17 net points/14 drives=1.22 ppd TP: Didn’t get a chance= N/A
Without factoring in the opponent, DJ was better than last week, not quite as productive as TP was last week.

...with the exception of a few mistakes, DJ played his best game of the year. The running game was on point, the O-Line did better than expected and the defense stepped up when it counts.
Overall I thought we played our best game of the season in terms of offensive play.
No. DJ was not good. We just got super lucky today and FSU did not grasp the chances.

DJ has all the skills, and needs to polish them. But the thing I suspect is that something has happened to break his mental focus. What ails DJ is more than likely psychological 'cause it sure as #### isn't physical. Maybe a win, no matter how sloppy it was, might clear some of his cobwebs. We should all hope so.
