He is not playing well, no doubt but there is literally 5/4 star talent at every single position on this offense.
And like Dabo likes to remind us 10000x a season - this is a developmental game. Well, folks, this team with all its talent is almost dead last out of 125 teams in offensive production through 5 games.
Clearly, this talent is not being developed at all. This offensive staff needs to be gutted, completely.

have you considered that maybe we're looking like this because we've got enough talent injured at the moment to cause most other football teams to effectively shut down for the season? We lost our starting running back out, probably for the season, in the first half. It's not like the offensive staff has a great playbook titled "plays to call when the guy who won the starting position overwhelmingly goes down and you have to bring in the kids who still don't know their blocking responsibilities on passing plays."

Or WRs aren't blocking in the flats? Or we are dropping ball after ball. Or we run the same 5 plays a game? Or we run up the middle for no gain once every 4 downs?
121 out of 125 teams in offensive production and you're seriously going to blame this all on injuries? How about we blame it on the officiating while we are at it?

I see someone else gets it. BB11 very possibly wouldn't have gotten hurt with halfway decent offensive production. Skalski is probably held together with athletic tape and Cold Beer to line up every game. Dabo WAS right, 20 extra plays for a BS call didn't help. Want less defensive plays? Less 3 and outs is a fine start.

With two recent National Championships, we should have a stable of running backs.

Have you looked at the portal. Full of players that got 0 playing time at their previous team. Most of these players could not even make our team!

DJ has no anticipation. Has no touch. Can't run RPO. Has no timing with receivers. Too scared mentally to take chances downfield. And he had the balls to say in interviews htis summer he was a top 10 NFL pick and talked about the teams he wanted to play for.
Pick any other starting QB in the last 20 years and we are undefeated this year. THAT is how bad DJ has been. I'm actually embarrassed he hasn't been benched yet. He is god awful.

All of them struggled to start their sophomore years. Most notably you could see the upper body change on DW4. I think the body changes from S&C affect their throwing motion and it takes a while for them to adjust. We have all seen DJ do better.

Did either of those guys go 5 games throwing 3 touchdowns and not ranked outside the top 100 in the nation?
DJ should never be mentioned in the same sentence as those other two. DJ is absolutely awful.

Besides being slow, DJ’s biggest problem is he has no touch on the ball. It’s a straight fast ball every time. These WRs have got to adapt to it .

I have not seen him once this year put the ball in the air when the receiver breaks the route. DJ is not smart enough to anticipate the breaks on routes. It's why he throws it so hard. He doesn't understand what anyone is doing so he just chucks it hard when he feels like it.
Good QBs anticipate breaks and throw to where the receiver is going to be in stride. DJ shows ZERO ability to do this. He is not a college level QB.

What the heck do you call with a guy who is as inaccurate as that guy? He can’t throw straight. What do you call?
And why is he so delicate? Is it the whole California soft thing? He’s making millions and treated like a volunteer fireman

No one is bashing DJ we are just stating that his weaknesses are outweighing his strengths. Dj is an awesome young man but he is sucking at football right now and that is a fact.

Well,he ain't lying. Some people get the truth confused with bashing. If you can't handle the truth about yourself then maybe he should re think his choice to be a 5 star qb on a D1 team.

So it’s the wide receivers over throwing passes? Or maybe the running backs are televising the handoffs or the pedestrian fakes?
Perhaps it’s the offensive line rifling passes that are 6 yards deep like it’s 60 yards down field. It could be the TE’s that are holding the ball too long and looking down the first wideout , when he’s covered they panick. Yes it’s everyone fault but DJ. Funny how when given a chance the running backs played well.
Truth is DJ isn’t ready to play big boy football. He’s not ready, and I’ve never seen a player that plays and isn’t ready ever become better. It usually ruins them.

Somehow we have taken a 5* super talented QB and have him playing like the 5 worst QB's in the country. If position coaching isn't part of that, what do you account for the terrible drop off in the kid's ability.

It’s kind of inexcusable when Venables’ group of guys does such an outstanding job year after year?
Down year? We’ll change up the scheme to fit our personnel. Not say prideful things like “that’s not what we do”. We do whatever we can to make our players successful. That’s why we get some of the best talent in the nation.
There’s people here so toxic that they were doing mental gymnastics to criticize the kid for trying to practice after the game. Poor guy has more haters than Kelly Bryant. He’s done nothing to show he has a bad attitude or he’s lazy. I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt.
I’m pulling for him. I know he’s very unsatisfied with how we have performed.

Agree! A lot of fans aren’t doing anything to help matters by bashing the poor kid! As a mom of an athlete (and hopefully a future Tiger), my heart breaks for DJ. Can’t imagine the mental torture he feels and the amount of pressure he puts on himself must be miserable. We live in a day and time where people lack empathy. It’s glorified bullying.

When he gets out of the bottom 10% of NCAA passers (with all his talent) then I'm quite sure the Clemson faithful will greet him with open arms! Like everything else in California he was over rated!
