When I read that quote, I thought that he was just making reference to things that could be on the mind of a student-athlete, but the struggling with classes and girlfriend problems were a bit to personal and went a little further than needed. It sounds like he is trying to get in someone's head. Bulletin board material for sure. They all run their mouth and they all eventually fall.

That quote is funny. I could see "girlfriend problems" possibly causing issues with preparation/watching film/etc., but I really doubt that any player is going to be in the middle of a playoff game thinking... "Man, I really should apologize to Becky over that fight we had last week! Oh darn, now I just lobbed a pass into the secondary. Who cares, what is Becky doing right now???"

I didn’t see anything in this interview that is bulletin board material. We know that the Irish want to make up for that game where they got wet! If the Tigers can shut down their running backs and not allow them to get outside to receive passes we will shut down their offense. If Pitt can hold them to less than 20 points I’m sure the Tigers can as well.
