Mayfield is vastly overrated.
Weak arm. Runs around cause he's lost. If his first read is not open....its run around time. Lawson and the boys are gonna kill this dude. Watson is LIGHT years better.
We win

He's like manziel just runs around hoping someone gets open. That does create some problems got to stay on your receiver but yea not that impressed.

What an absolutely rude retort.
I am as Orange blooded as any Tiger fan. I am also able to recognize that Clemson's weak points on Defense are... - Mobile QBs who are either crafty & hard to contain or hard to bring down like the NC St QB - fast RBs and WRs running Cross routes and being covered by our LBs
Now the 1st poster to your OP seemed to be along the line of respectful to our oponent. So that person may have valid points to consider.
Perhaps respectful is word you could review.

I'm blown away by anyone on either side who thinks this will be anything but a close / last possession type game.
I've only watched 3 Clemson games (and of course every OU game)....I see two very evenly matched teams capable of putting of points in bunches & very strong front 4's on D that are very fast
Gonna be a classic

TCSooner,
I agree with you. It's a little surprising to me that so many Clemson fans feel that the Sooners will be overwhelmed on both offense and defense.
I think OU will score some points, but I think Clemson will score points too. I look forward to a good, close, game.
We shall see...

about these two teams, you keep it close (less than 10) only if you win the turnover battle. If we turn it over one more than y'all, it could be close. Two more than y'all and you could win.
But if y'all turn it over more than we do . . .
Katy bar the door! It's ON.

I am very curious to see how this goes. We hold qb to 50% comp and unc we held to 33%. This should be interesting.

Before the unc game many talking heads would say yes (in certain aspects)....
After the unc game the talking heads say Williams choked and couldn't handle the pressure on the first half and Baker won't choke.
I love Monday morning quarter backing. ....

Maybe shiftier, that's all they have similar stats correct? Don't know much about the playmakers but unc was supposed to have a lot of them. We gave unc what they got seriously Williams had 11 ### completions, and hood had 65 rushing.

If say Mayfield looks like the better scrambler, though. Williams wasn't as good at finding open guys after he escaped pressure.

Yep. ..I think Baker isn't really a running QB in the typical sense. ..great scramble ability, very elusive, and can run the ZR. But Williams is definitely a more gifted runner. ....no question. ....Baker keeps his eyes down field which is the biggest threat in my mind. We have to bring him down otherwise it could be a huge gain.

What's your take on why he was so inaccurate against TCU?
Dec 20, 2015, 7:24 PM
[ in reply to Re: Watching Oklahoma play ] |
|
That's the game that's on right now, and Mayfield was under 50% in the first half when y'all built up your big lead. Watching it now, it wasn't so much because of your offense being really successful- although you ran the ball well- but because of TCU's turnovers. At least two of those turnovers were because the TCU backup floated the ball.

I'm trolling by saying both teams are evenly matched....very close /last possession type game.... Very fast front 4s on both D lines?
Any other "trolls" I laid down Mensa?

As a bleeding orange tiger this is what I see in this TCU vs. OU replay:
OU won the turn over margin TCU didn't have their star QB OU ran well in the first half Mayfield was nice with the Deep Ball.
With that said, can't wait to see Clemson D eat up. A lot of loose coverage from TCU in this game. Kearse and McKenzie need to be dialed in.

Honest analysis from a Tiger fan...
Dec 21, 2015, 12:45 PM
|
|
First lets start with some stats that not many analyst talk about. 5 of the 12 teams OU played are ranked 101 or worst in total D for the season. 3 of those five finished ranked 126-127-128 in total D, bottom 3 in the country. The best D OU played was Tennessee ranked 43rd. The three best teams that OU faced TCU, Baylor and OSU are ranked 67th, 56th, and 94th respectively in total D (NCAA.com). All 3 teams played without their starting QB against OU (for at least a portion of the game). TCU had their starting QB, Starting Center, Best WR, and 7 defensive starters missing in that game. Not to mention they lost their starting linebacker to a targeting call during the game and played safeties at the LB position the rest of the game. OU is ranked 111th in the country in sacks allowed with 36 in 12 games. Because of all this, it makes it hard to really get a gauge on how good OU is. By comparison, Clemson faced 5 teams that finished the season ranked in the top 25 in total D including the #1 team in total D at the end of the regular season. Further ND finished ranked in the 30's in total D for the season and UNC finished in the top 25 in scoring D. I believe that OU is a very good team. But to me, their OL vs Clemson DL is a mismatch especially in pass pro. I believe that Mayfield will be pressured all night unless OU really runs the ball consistently to slow down the rush. Clemson has faced good rushing teams all year and has had mixed success stopping it, so that could be a factor in the game. Watching the games against TCU, Baylor and OSU, I see many 1 on 1 opportunities against OU's DB's which plays into Clemson's strength on offense. All that being said, I think it really is simple, if Clemson turns the ball over, the game will be close with the possibility for an OU win. If Clemson ties or wins the turnover margin, it will be a double digit win by the tigers. Just my opinion.
