I read where a dude set the cannonball run record while the country was in covid lockdown and the interstates were basically wide open. He rented a mustang and added auxiliary fuel tanks to give him 130 gallon capacity. He averaged 108 mph between NY to LA in just under 26 hours. Top speed was 159 mph.

I make that run regularly. Last year when my sister was in the hospital and then hospice it was pretty much weekly from April until August. The road construction north of Cootlumbia made the trip awful. Now that construction in that area is mostly complete and there are 3-4 lanes in each direction it is much better. The day of the week and time of day makes a big difference too. Next up is the construction around the I95 interchange. That will have things messed up for the next few years. It won’t be significantly better until I26 and I95 are at least 3 lanes in each direction all the way through the state.

Cannonball Run II has our very own Shawn Weatherly in a cameo appearance in bed with Dean Martin until Don Deluise comes up to the window to take ol Dino away

Monty Python and the search for the holy grail. Man. It isn’t as great as it used to seem but it’s still hilarious. Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.

When my daughter was a freshman at Clemson in 2013 she called and asked me to send her our Blazing Saddles dvd. She said she had a bunch of friends, mostly guys from SC and GA, who had never seen it. She couldn’t believe they had never seen it so she made steak and milk gravy one night and they all watched it. She said it was a big hit with them and it, along with Monty Python and the Holy Grail, remain her favorite movies to this day. We were all together over the holidays and she made a Monty Python reference while my son was carving the turkey. 😂😂
