Exactly.
Walls are not a silver bullet to stop intruders, but are nevertheless the least expensive and most effective single component of a multi-faceted system to secure a geographic zone.
Wall construction is a capital outlay. As for bang for the buck, walls have the feature of having lowest variable cost.
Guards are a variable cost measure. Their capital cost component is the least.
Weapons detection technology is a mixed bag. These devices break down faster than walls; constant presence of security personnel must accompany the weapons detection devices.
Simply wishing that there is no need for security, and that we should all sit down together, smoke the peace pipe, and burn candles isn’t going to work in places that are already violent. Not that I’m suggesting that you are advocating that. You seem to recognize that stronger security measures are necessary for the non-violent elements of society to function.

this didn't happen, so either your lying or misinformed.
Also, comparing a 2000 mile border wall to small areas walled off and patrolled is pretty stupid.

Biden’s handlers just recently organized the sale (at huge discount prices) of border wall materials that Trump admin had purchased and were located near the border.
Now, political pressure from within the Democrat Party has pushed Biden Admin to start building a wall with newly purchased wall materials.
If this hadn’t happened right before our eyes, then no one would believe that any governing party could be so terrible. Yet, here we are.
Let’s Go Brandon!

Imagine how many more would have gotten in without a wall in place and how much sooner this would have happened.
Crazy that people took the time to build the Great Wall of china. I guess it didn’t work either.
I don’t know why people build fences around their property in subdivisions either.
Nothing is fool proof. But is nice to have a deterrent.
By your logic, since chemotherapy doesn’t stop people from dying from cancer, people shouldn’t get treatment.

There is a fence and it came with the house. It's good at keeping the neighbors dog out. It would not keep humans out if they really wanted to get in. If it were to fall down, I would not replace it.
Your flailing now.
You didn't answer as to how many fences in your neighborhood that you could not cross.

Duh!
Yeah someone would have to spend time and money to break into your house
And they are risking getting shot dead or arrested while they were in the act
Why don't you try an experiment and hold your valuables inside the walls of your home for a week and then leave them out side your fence for a week?
Can you report back to us if the walls were more or less effective at keeping people out of your stuff?

Even if I locked my front door, it would take little effort and 0 expense to break into my house. Smash a window with a hammer and voila, you're in.
The wall at the Southern border has been cut thousands of times with angle grinders and Sawzalls. Some of the cuts are done so that the bollard can be put back in place so the breach is disguised and is essentially a hidden door. Some of the breaches have been big enough to drive vehicles through. This will not stop until the benefits no longer outweigh the consequences.
So please, let's hear some real solutions for the border situation instead of "build a wall". That's all you guys seem to have and it's laughable. And LOL at the failed comparisons of Covid vaccines, prisons and walls to my house. 😆

Ah that's a great analogy!
A window is a big hole in your wall.
It is exactly where an intruder would go.
If someone kept breaking into your house through the window (aka the big ### hole in your wall) and stealing your vintage kombucha juice and your copies of the communist manifesto signed by Bernie Sanders - what would you do?
And how about the wall around the White House? What's that for? Is it just decoration? Does it work?

The wall around the WH works because of the Men and guns that are on the other side.
If my house was constantly being breached. I would either move or increase security measures if it was cost effective.
Would a 2000 mile MAGA border wall be cost effective? I'll wait.

Oh, well if it’s just the guns why don’t they take that ugly wall right down?
What kind of security measures are we talking about increasing to keep these intruders from getting through that big hole in your wall? Are we talking Home Alone measures or Quentin Tarantino measures?
Also, I’d suggest not telling your neighbors that you would move, or you might get your window smashed every night 🤣
I struggle with the cost of a properly defended wall, but we know that terrorists are exploiting the southern boarder and how much is thwarting a terrorist attack? How much does TSA cost annually? How much did occupying Afghanistan cost?

Would it be cheaper to sell (very cheaply) your home with the torn down doors and smashed windows … and buy a new home (more costly) in a rich neighborhood?
Along with this, before you move, will be the loss / destruction of your valuable (and sentimental) possessions.
or
Would it be cheaper to fix your door, install shatter proof glass on the windows, and not have to move? At least, by this time, you will no longer posses any valuable / sentimental possessions. So you won’t have this part of the family economic equation to cause worry.

Aren't you basically saying that if only 20 people tried to break out of jail and one was successful that the jails are only 95% successful?
It would also include everyone that would have tried to escape but were deterred by the giant freaking wall!

Do what?
I believe vaccines work even though some people still die of the disease they are intended to protect.
I thought this was common sense until I read you jacalopes talking about walls.
A few people tunnel under or launch themselves over a wall, and suddenly walls don't work?
It's just dumb thinking - no two ways about it

You can't seem to understand nuance.
You keep claiming the left is saying "walls don't work", in the absolute sense.
> A few people tunnel under or launch themselves over a wall, and suddenly walls don't work?
> It's just dumb thinking - no two ways about it
Again, you think too blank and white.
First of all, it's not going to just be "a few people". There is no way we can build a 2000 mile wall that is effective enough to keep out the drugs/terrorists. We won't be able to man the darn thing effectively enough.
It will slow down a bunch of people that are looking for a better a life, and if that's what you want, sure. But to claim it's going to stop the dangerous stuff, that's just laughable.
It will basically just be an expensive political prop that doesn't accomplish much.

Did you say walls slow people down? What? Seriously? Earth-shattering!
Nuance? You mean the type of nuance that proposes a wall coupled with an armed presence is actually an effective barrier?
Or the nuance that bureaucratic immigration laws are the real problem slowing down legal immigration of people that want to make a better life for themselves?
Or the nuance that you believe it's ok for people to illegally immigrate to this country and that you argue against a wall because you know it will impede illegal immigration?

If 1000 vaccinated people died of COVID would you say the vaccine doesn't work?
If one robber got broke into your house of 20 years, would you say the walls, roof, and lock don't work?
If one person escaped from a jail cell, would you say the walls and metal bars don't work?

But there's the problem. We know that's what you want at the border. Wall + guns because you want immigrants shot.

Are they innocent? Doesn't the federal law that the President of the United States is sworn to protect and defend specifically prohibit it?
I don't think that is an adult opinion. Sounds like a child’s opinion that doesn't like the rules of the game they are playing and makes up their own rules - but hey, that's just me
Your opinion on the cost/benefit of the wall is fair. Believing that thwarting a few terrorist attacks isn't worth the billions of dollars a wall and properly staffing it would cost - that is an adult opinion
Congrats! You are 50% “adulting”

The whole point is we don’t know!
Whose to say if the 1000’s of people pouring across the boarder - who are hard working immigrants looking for a better life, who are drug dealers seeking to profit off this country’s most vulnerable, and who are wicked terrorists set on killing you and me?
You don’t know!
What we do know is terrorists and drug dealers are certainly exploiting the southern border
So if you are fine with a knowingly allowing them in with the rest of the “innocent” people, then when the inevitable happens - that blood will be squarely on the hands of you and those that share your loopy thoughts and notions.

Yeah, for sure
But this whole idea that a wall “doesn't work” because some people are able to get by it is just dumb (or dishonest for people who happen to disagree with the end purpose of a wall)
And the same can be said for a wall.
“Build a better wall” “Defend the wall better”

Walls are an impediment. No one except people who promulgate false narratives suggest that walls are, by themselves, the only aspect of a valuable security system.
Fences and dams are versions of a wall. Physical barriers that slow or impede the ingress of people or animals or ocean water or rivers are examples of the effectiveness of physical barriers.
Walls / fences are a capital intensive, variable cost minimized aspect of keeping something out / keeping something in. It takes determination and/or some physical ability / special equipment to cross a threshold on which a wall / fence exists.
Anything that slows or retards the movement allows for more effective deployment of security personnel to do their jobs.

It's amazing how the head commie can plant such a backward idea as "walls don't work" into the minds of the democrats/progressives/socialist-commies and literally within milliseconds millions are repeating it.
