Keep whining and you might get more than you can wish for. I would not be surprised if he showed interest in that job, if they could afford it. Might be a big if.
My main point is I'd settle down and let the season play out. The Tigers win a couple straight and they are right back to get their confidence back up to make a good run. Go Tigers!

Dabo would be good there. He would find his hunger and probably build something there. He hadn't shown that in years at clemson. He really needs to turn it on. A team takes on its coaches personality. You saw that with GT yesterday.

I think a team can also be affected by a negative fan base.
IMO I think Dabo, his coaches and players are playing and coaching so up tight due to some of Clemson’s fans that you make careless mistakes because you are trying for perfection.
I know from personal experiences as I climbed the levels of the sport I played the pressure I put on myself and if the coach added to that pressure my confidence and performance dropped.
All of who have a boss and or supervisor people think about what I just said. I the higher ups came down on you then you may have tendency to come down on those under you.
Just because it’s a job nobody said you could not have fun and enjoy working. When I watched TB in his last couple of years I could see it in him, his coaches and players that it was a chore just to be out there. They knew a loss would bring a negative response from fans.
It even affects 10 year old little girls who play soccer. My daughter was the HC and I helped her. One day just before a game I ask them if they could pick one thing that would make playing soccer more fun, everyone of them without hesitation said “ we would like it if our parents could not come to their games “.
Every game the parents were yelling and screaming at their kid to hustle, get the ball and on and on to where the negative comments from the parents had taken away the enjoyment of the game from 10 year old kids.
Now we have college kids getting paid so they know more is expected of them. Dabo and the players just do not look like they are enjoying the games. So they are not living up to their talent level.
This is what I have noticed since 2020. I credit Dabo and his energetic personality with keeping Clemson in the mix with so much negativity from the fans and now the need for NIL 💰💰.
We can be disappointed we lost but you don’t have lose your mind and continue to beat down the coaches or the players.
Social media is the worst thing to be created. I think people abuse it and use it to cause pain for others.

Fans have ZERO to do with it; as does 1 play here or there for the vast majority of games.
Its tough to face the real issue; some ppl avoid it & use excuses; some ppl slow walk it. Achievers run to it.
As BV says....less is more. Less talk, look internally and fix the issue(s)
“It brings out the true competition, the true fight and just the will inside of you and inside of a person when you’re being able to be challenged like I am now,” Watson said. “It’s good to have the challenges because I love resistance. I love to try to push through that.”

You got that right. VA Tech would love some Dabo. Dabo leaves Clemson and hello 6-7 wins a year. Fighting for a Music city bowl berth every year.

First of all, we might struggle to land that many THIS year. Secondly, not sure why you assume Clemson would go out and hire the next Tommy West again. Thirdly, you do know we are still in the ACC right?

Pretty sure top of their wish list is Shane Beamer. Although not too sure he'd be interested considering the constant comparisons to his dad.

VT doesn't have a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out of. They can't afford Dabo. Lots of unrealistic candidates being mentioned on that bored. They will wind up with a Group of Five coach or a coordinator hire from another P4 school.

If they want to pay his $60 million buyout I would absolutely listen.

I want Dabo to retire here, but if things continue like they have been going we need to ask ourselves if our $11-$12 million a year investment in him is still justified.
A lot of it would hinge on what Dabo’s plan is to improve things (if he has one) and who we think we would want to replace him with.
I absolutely think there are coaches out there today who could do better than he has recently, but as we know there is a real risk of getting someone who would do worse. Lots to consider…

Spoke to some friends in Pittsburgh yesterday and told them how the fans here are wanting Dabo fired...they would take him in a heartbeat. People here have lost their minds. Let him go and g o 2-10 for a few years and I our would be begging for him to come home.

You wanna see Clemson really go into the toilet? Dabo leaves then we'll all get

experience it... again. Well at least some of us have experienced it before. DAnny left and we went into obscurity for 20 years. I suspect many on here that are complaining (not all but many) have only one experience with Clemson and don't know the realities thats waiting at our door. But whatever guess we'll just need to touch the hot oven to learn.

You don't know that. It cracks me up people think Dabo is the be all/end all of Clemson. There are lots of coaches out there beating him now, winning championships etc. For the money they are paying Clemson would get a great coach if Dabo were to ever leave.

it cracks me up when I hear Clemson fans think getting rid of a coach that has done it before for some grass is greener concept. We are in the ACC for one (which i'm sure is a strike for alot of elite coaches.) And apart from Nick Saban I don't know of a name that would be an upgrade. Any of the SEC elite coaches aren't taking a step down to the ACC. Best case would probably be an elite team coordinator. Which would be a gamble for sure. I'll pull for them regardless but I hearken back to history as a guide. Do you think Dabo is totally not capable of what he's done in the past?

I have two questions...
Sep 15, 2025, 11:29 AM
|
|
Dabo had a 59% winning percentage before Venables came to town and is about 75% since he left but was 88% while he was here. Why wouldn't they go after Venables and leave Dabo out of it?
Second, why does everyone think that Clemson couldn't hire a legit, proven coach that will use all the resources at his disposal to continue winning?
Dabo ain't going anywhere though. The only thing that could possibly come out of the "Dabo to here or Dabo to there" talk would be a contract extension and doubling his buy out.

Lots of programs would probably like to have Dabo but there's not a one that would pay him half of what he's making now.
