Unrelated restaurant question ..

Jan 22, 2015, 12:56 AM

Anyone know if there is a really good seafood resturant in or around Greenville Spartanburg area? I know of a couple but nothing very good and I thought some of you might. Sry it's off topic.

Silver Bay on Main St Simpsonville is pretty good...big fish tanks with exotic fish swimming to watch while you dine. Of course there are always the Red Lobsters of the world. Unfortunately there just isn't the fresh coastal type place you may be looking for here in the upstate.

Flat Rock closed over two years ago....

Jan 22, 2015, 8:35 AM [ in reply to Flat Rock Grille on Woodruff Rd is pretty good. ]

The Owner of the property and Flat Rock could not come to an agreement on the terms of a new lease so Flat Rock vacated the property with plans to re-open elsewhere but so far that hasn't happened.

The Flounder in Spartanburg is very good, and it's owned by Clemson fans.

Nantucket trucks their seafood in from Charleston daily. Blockhouse has fresh oysters delivered daily. Green Room always had great fish, mussels, and crab cakes, delivered daily.

I grew up in Charleston. my rule of thumb

Jan 22, 2015, 8:51 AM

Is that there is noooo such thing as fresh seafood anywhere that is more than an hour fRom the beach.

Even then it is questionable. I went to the outback in Miami during the Orange bowl assuming the fish would be fresh. When I got my food it did not taste fresh. I asked the guy and he admitted it was frozen. This grim a restaurant that was literally less than a mile from the ocean.

I say go to long John silver's. Its good, cheap, and just as fresh as anything else.
