They're wasting no time in shortening the field....

apparently work has already begun this morning. Home plate will be moved out about 10 feet.....this after our miserable post-season play.
I think we can also conclude from this that Jack is going to be around for at least another year.

the outfield field stands would have to move with it.
I really hope the turf goes away in this process

Usually yes, but not with the hill

moving the hill and fences would really mess up the site lines from the outfield bleachers. Moving the plate up would have the same effect, and really not change much from a fan perspective.
It would add a little to foul territority that might make the pitchers happy in exchange for the chance of giving up more HRs.

I for one dont really understand this decision. Our lineup is not full of big bruisers. Wouldnt a pitchers ball park that you can play small ball in be better for our team make up and coaches philosophy?

Please tell me what was inaccurate about that statement.
Is our team built around hitting HRs? Is our team built around pitching and defense and small ball? Is our Coaches philosophy geared more towards small ball. Aka moving runners over via bunt etc.

trying to get this done for sometime.
you play 50% of your games at home so you build your team to fit. also, dk has a reputation for not giving up the long ball.
perhaps he's hoping to attract some pop & build a team that can take advantage of some of the more unforgiving away parks.
completely spit-balling here.

Thanks for an actual response. I think it would be nice to have a few more big HR hitters in the line up. What is the old saying "chicks dig the long ball"
Also I looked it up and due to most of our mid week games being at home sites we played 62.5% of our regular season games at home this year or 35-56. Assuming I didn't miscount.

I wonder if he has considered that it will also allow the other teams to hit more home runs as well? considering some of his other decisions, I would say not!

And of course jack is the leader in trying to get s livelier ball also. He is trying to do what is good for the game and make it a little more exciting as well.

That is fine I would love to see more HRs, but what excites me more than that is to see Clemson win. Right now our team is not built for smashing HRs. We are built for small ball and with 63% of our games this year played at home I would think we would want to keep the advantage of BTF being a pitchers park.
Why cant you just answer the simple post I made instead of trying to turn everything into a pissing contest because of the screen name of the person bringing it up.

Good lord that is completely false.
I think the ball thing is great. I think the ball thing combined with shortening BTF is not great for our team make up.

According to the article moving the plate out 8 feet will shorten right and left 5'8 and3/4", centerfield by 8'. Not much difference. Simple geometry.

We're dealing with an arc, not a triangle. Here's what I come up with:
Left field pole current = 320', new = 316.8' left center current = 370', new 363.5' True centerfield current = 400', new = 392' Right centerfield current = 375', new =367.4' Right field pole current = 330', new = 326.5'

Good Lord.
Here is what is being done for 2013. 1.) Field is being stripped down 3' to allow for new drainage to be installed. 2.) Home plate is being moved forward by 10' to allow for new luxury seating(ground level) to be installed behind home plate. 3.) New party pavilion will be built outside of right field wall between batting cages and fence. This will be used during both football and baseball seasons. It will include a canopy that will extent over to the Cajan Café.

Not sure. None that I have seen. I was talking to coach about the moving of home plate and that is how I found out about the new seats. Got into more detail and the pavilion came up. I already knew the details about the field being redone. The new club house changes and upgrades will start at the end of the season next year.I think those drawings have already been released.
