Schef getting a slap on the wrist (which seems very likely at this point) will set a terrible precedent for the younger players. They are all watching very closely right now. If Dabo doesn't drop the banhammer and make an example others will follow as they will have witnessed no real consequence for that type of behavior.

Swinney has been pretty consistent, 3 3-game suspension for first-time misdemeanors, and kicked off the team for a felony. He will get the same punishment as Sammy Watkins received for possession of a controlled substance.

Agree, Scheff is a project and won’t warrant any special favors. Unfortunately, he brought this on himself and will pay the price. He’s a good young man who simply made a bad choice.

Where have you been the last 15 years? Dabo is going to do what Dabo does for misdemeanors - 2-3 game suspension so long as the player takes accountability and responds appropriately.

It’s not a tough spot at all. Sammy was a tough spot. And Dabo handled it. Schieffelin is not an impact player. Punishment is easy.

How do you figure Dabo is in a tough spot? If anything, Dabo has never given any player a lighter punishment because they were a starter, a fan favorite, a star recruit, nothing. Dabo treats all his players the same. He shows no favoritism towards anyone.

According to WYFF tonight the loss of 10% of game eligibility is the rule with this kind of charge so if it's 3 games sounds like that's more than 10% of the regular season. How is that just a slap on the wrist.

Lol huh??? Dabo has been known to sit even our best players in big games, and Ian won't get any favorable treatment. He will be sitting unless he gets off totally which is very possible with a good lawyer.

Likely more to it than public knowledge. If Dabo is good with 1 game it's exactly that. Nothing to read further into and not like EVERY situation will be the same.

I suspect he got a good lawyer who got the charge reduced ...... same thing you would have done. I guess the precedent is to hire a good lawyer. I have not seen one single person here who condones what Shef did and thinks no punishment is ok.

I'm glad Dabo isn't a reactionary clown like many folks on here and afforded everyone involved the proper time for the true facts to emerge before making any kind of decision. Pretty solid precedent he's set over his time here with that approach that perhaps you could learn from.
