You missed this pearl
Dabo Swinney:
In December 1995 he received his M.B.A from Alabama and became a full-time coach for the Crimson Tide, in charge of wide receivers and tight ends.[2] He was fired with all of head coach Mike DuBose's staff in early 2001.[3]

Dabo Swinney:
In 2013 Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney led his Tigers to a 38-35 victory over the soft puppies of uga.

Oh yeah, CJ Davidson who was a walk-on
Aug 21, 2014, 11:20 AM
[ in reply to Re: UGAy fans sure know their football... ] |

because he came to Clemson on a track scholarship? The same guy who had some really nice carries and receptions last year to go along with 4 TD's?
He's hardly considered a "walk-on" at this point.
Nice try though!

He finished with all of 155 yards last year
Aug 21, 2014, 11:58 AM
|

And almost nobody had heard of him before last season started. I really hope he has a great year, but you guys are showing a major homer's bias in your overconfidence on him.
I mean, put yourself in an opposing team's shoes. If UGa was a twisted ankle away from starting a walk- on with just 155 yards to his name, wouldn't you be pretty confident about stopping their run defense? Would you trust their fans who were telling you he just "wasn't your typical walk-on?"

Nope, just like I don't trust them telling me that Hutson Mason will have no problems running their offense or that Pruitt is the immediate answer on D.
Ain't saying that Davidson is the next Barry Sanders though. Although I am confident that he will be ready when called upon!!!

Hutson shouldn't have a problem....he's a 5th yr senior. No one saying he'll win the Heisman. As far as Pruitt is concerned....his greatest impact will be from a mental standpoint. Pruitt is a perfectionist and is really big on fundamentals.....something our defense lacked last season. He will not play anyone who is not ready to execute his game plan. The question remains how good the defense will be but we will be improved w/o a doubt....because of his coaching.

Oh so he's a former walk-on now? copy/paste
Aug 21, 2014, 1:33 PM

when you said he's a "former" walk-on before this one please, tia.
There are plenty of examples of guys who were originally walk-ons, earned a scholly and went on to play in the NFL. I would absolutely trust CJ when his number gets called.

The second one is completely correct. Davidson is a walk-on

And it's one of the reasons to worry about whether we're going to be able to do much on offense this year.

Uh, yeah it is. Davidson is a walk on

And that's all he said. Thus far, Davidson hasn't really proved anything other than that Clemson fans will crown a guy as the next best thing with almost no in- game evidence just because he's an underdog. Clemson fans' perception of Davidson is almost entirely from coaches saying he was playing well in camp, although they've never indicated he was our best option at RB.
From an outsider's perspective, Davidson is a walk- on (entirely true) who's best game was a 13 carry 61 yard performance against SC State and who didn't even play in games when Clemson was behind last year. It isn't remotely laughable to look at another team and wonder if they're going to be any good at RB if they're "one injury away from a walk- on playing." I wonder the same thing, and I'm reading all the stuff here and on TI daily.

Was he a walk on? Yes. Now he is a scholarship athlete.
