Much like how Wes Godwin didn't have the personality and leadership to be a great DC, he's still extremely valuable in a consultant role.

In full disclosure, one of the articles alluded to Muschamp taking time off to watch his son who is one of the QBs on the Vandy roster. I begrudge no one for spending more time with their kids, even a former coot.

Losing Dan Lanning and especially Todd Monken has been a much bigger part of UGa's "decline."
And I'm good with that.
The thing that kept Bobby Bowden on top for so long at FSU was keeping so much of his core staff intact.
Once he finally lost key guys and started nepo hires, that was the beginning of the end.
Kirby's hiring his ol' buddies (Muscoot and Bobo) hasn't been great so far.
Dabo seems to have course-corrected from a similar trajectory. Hopefully we're in for a good year that proves that true.

All while leading the nation in dropped passes and finishing something like 14 in the SEC in rushing. All that and Kirby still beat Texas twice and won the conference.

I completely understand what you are saying.
We faced the same denial as fanbase a few years ago. Life becomes much more peaceful when you just accept the fact you're in a natural downward cycle. We are proof that good programs can and often do recover after a few years.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the puppies slide a little bit, but they have not yet. They are still a top five team.
Who knows what 2025 brings.
Time will tell, but seems like the season is on the shoulders of Mr. Gunner Stockton.
