Most people on here won't agree with you, but you are right. Laws on marijuana usage in this country are changing. It's absolutely silly to ruin someone's life over this. That being said, the NCAA doesn't exactly look favorably on it either. Maybe he still should sit if he was actually the one smoking and just not face some ridiculous misdemeanor? That's pretty fair. I know Dabo would sit him a heartbeat, but will Kirby? I doubt it.

Can't in my car either but that's a bit absurd to arrest anyone for that. Kirby should still suspend him for putting his team at risk for something dumb like that. Ge won't of course but it would be a great life lesson for him to learn. Seems to have taught Cain a great lesson.

That might be all they found, but that wasn’t all he had. Let’s be honest here and you can only assume the rest was ditched, swallowed or already smoked. ????? It’s not his first offense. And if he was on Clemson, after the second offense he would be gone. Cain missed the whole playoffs two years ago.

The NCAA does a drug test on all 4 teams in the playoffs. That is why Clemson had the 3 get caught 2 years ago. Every team had someone test positive that year and Clemson is the only team that sent their players how. The rest appealed the suspension and as soon as the playoffs were done they dropped the appeal. I wish I had the article that talked about it and Bama had multiple players test positive but all were leaving Bama after the season so they didn't face any punishment. It would be interesting how many UGA players test positive and how many play in the playoffs. I say at least 4 or 5 and all will play. Coach Smart has already showed that he has followed in his mentors path and allows almost anything as long as the player is a contributor to the team. While Dabo continues to show it doesn't matter who you are you will not play. Go Tigers.

The kid had dope and I guarantee you he could not pass a drug test. Swinney suspended four players for the playoffs who could not pass a drug test. You cannot sit here and honestly tell me Kirby would do the same. You're running a dirty program and you act like this is the first time this kid got in trouble.

You are aware that marijuana in any quantity is illegal in Georgia? It was at that officer’s discretion to make that charge and he/she probably charged everyone in the vehicle because no one would own up to it. So this whole “it was only a small amount” is not going to do you much good in front of a judge.

The district attorney's office in Winder, Georgia, has dismissed misdemeanor marijuana charges against Georgia linebacker Natrez Patrick, who was one of two UGA players arrested during a traffic stop on Dec. 3. Backup receiver Jayson Stanley's DUI charge was also dismissed, and Stanley pleaded guilty to misdemeanor marijuana possession and speeding.

blew well under the "legal limit" but was still cuffed and taken to jail. Had to spend over $5,000 to take my case to a jury trial in order to get acquitted (which I did)
Would have been a whole lot easier if I had just been a UGA football player and gotten my DUI dropped for, well, being a UGA football player

cool story but here in Georgia you must have "evidence" to convict. Having a top flight law school on campus doesn't hurt either.....plenty of Ga Alums on Kirby's sideline to help!

That weed in the pic isn't evidence ? Is it photoshopped in or something ? I can hardly be expected to allow for a cop's mistake when there's marijuana right next to the evidence ticket and the player's name is on it .
