A university that's been around for 220+ years...

...feels it needs to re-brand it's "logo" (ie what they want folks to refer to them as) for the second time in 3 years. Pathetic.

Let’s face it. UofSC was humiliating. No matter who people think this represents, at least it’s not ludicrous. Frankly, they needed to change it.

It was not the logo that was humiliating
It has been their thought, words, and actions from the top leadership through the lowest freshman.
"The five men have all served on the board of the state’s flagship university since at least since 2010. Just in the past three years, they dealt with a divisive presidential search where the governor got involved and threatened the school’s accreditation, sexual harassment lawsuits and paid close to $20 million to fire coaches in high-profile sports — one of the biggest amounts in the country.
“The university in my opinion has finally reached a level of a dumpster fire,” said Rep. Kirkman Finlay, a Columbia Republican. "

Keep in mind, there maybe a future coot trustee in this picture....

I can’t help but notice the absence of the U in that Logo. I hate the coots as much as anyone could but they are USC

They have trademarked various versions

You can see why the coots could not get their trademark. I have seen highschools NOT knockoff our own tigerpaw better ...

It was a loss within two distinct actions. And then follow up loss on appeal.
First, the coots tried to trademark their USC. SoCal opposed the trademark and won.
Next, South Carolina then tried to oppose SoCal's standing trademark and LOST again.
Not only that, but the Coots willingly provided the examples in their case as why their claim against SoCal was rejected.
Basically, South Carolina didn't do their homework, when they did do something, they basically copied their opponents homework WRONG, and then wonder why they lost and keep stubbonly beating their own dead chicken.

The fact is USC was not founded in 1801. South Carolina College was founded in 1801. That institution went through several name changes including university of South Carolina on more than one occasion. The first charter as USC was 1866 but then it was changed back to South Carolina college and back to USC and back again to South Carolina college. Finally they settled on university of South Carolina in 1906.
USC was founded in 1880 as the university of Southern California. That’s the only name that institution ever had.
So the truth is the institution located in Columbia SC was the first school chartered as USC in 1866. The institution located in Los Angeles has been USC since 1880 and the Columbia SC institution has been USC since 1906.
Say USC in 49 states and you are talking about southern cal.
