Turning point of the game was not the onside kick

Jan 13, 2016, 7:33 AM

We started the 4th q near the 40 of Bama. We were drving with momentum. On 3rd and 10 we tried for the big play to Scott and missed. On 4th down and 10, we punted for a net gain of 13 yards (touchback).

I was floored we punted. I looked at my daughter and said wow, that's not our game.

They drive down the field for points, then jit the onside kick.

We should have played that like 4 down territory. That play, the decision for the big play on 3rd down and the punt on 4th, turned the game.

It was 3 and 8 with 2 minutes left. That missed tackle sealed it. We make that tackle and we win .

Teasdall punted a perfect inside the fiver that bounced just a little too aggressively into the end zone.

The 6 seconds off the clock before half tIme. If we score a TD we dont go for two and we have 45 pts. Plus we are looking for an on-sides kick. And if frogs had wings...

Game is over

Jan 13, 2016, 8:30 AM

There are a number of things that could have or should have been done. The game is what it is, we need to build off the hurt that is being felt by coaches, players and fans and see how we all can be better. I sat watching that game thinking we are only one of many fan bases that got this opportunity Monday night and watch our team play in the NC game. I was upset we lost but cherished that moment. Quit trying to analyse each play and opportunity and be happy we got to experience this ride. Go Tigers, come back next year stronger and wiser.

i thought we would have went for about 5 yards.

Jan 13, 2016, 8:32 AM

So then we could have tried for it on 4th down

moving the sticks than taking a deep shot. Monday morning QB though. Can't blame the play callers as you do have to take shots sometimes.

For me, it was definitely Alexander's injury

Jan 13, 2016, 10:13 AM

Simply put, we win with Alexander--at least one Alabama TD does not happen.

Agree - the OP is right about momentum but you are right

about the single biggest factor in losing the game. That said, make a FG or TD on that drive and maybe we give our O the chance to overcome D's struggles.

Many things could have been the turning point. We had em we were coming back if Baker makes that tackle we get the ball back down 5 with great field position. You can also say the Kickoff return Tank should've had a tackle. DW shouldn't have thrown a pick. Shaq shouldn't had got shuck by Coker. The onside kick. The incompletion to AS in the endzone. We got close to scoring and left points on the field many times. Its football boys. We played our a$$ off and out played them most the game but they wanted it to and congrats to Bama. It was a hell of a game and we will get it next year this is just motivation for our team.

I was swapping text messages with a friend, pleased that we had just scored and discussing how well the defense was playing. Kicking off and letting the defense do their thing was a surefire recipe for getting the win. Then the KO return for a TD happened.

If they get a somewhat average return and we play defense, I think we win the game. All season my heart stopped during kickoffs. That return is the reason why.
