Month started off great. By May 23rd I had logged 100 miles for the month. 622.5 for the year.
Then I went to my cardiologist for a routine stress test. (I have A-Fib. Get one every 3 or 4 years.) They were prepping me for the treadmill and took my BP. It was 220/115.
My cardiologist and primary care physician are both aware of the situation and working together. But, after adjusting the medication it is still 200+. So, no walking for me.
Going to doctor this afternoon. But, it will probably be a couple of weeks before they get results back from all the tests to see if they can determine the cause of the rise. Hopefully, they can figure out a way to get it down sooner than that.

None of my business, but will be praying for you. I had a bout with high blood pressure recently about like yours, but mine has stabilized.

Praying for others is the business of every Christian.
The problem right now is trying to discern the cause. I have none of the medical conditions that normally are the cause of high BP.
Not diabetic. Cholesterol levels are great. Active physically (as seen by my walking) Weight is fine (since I walk so much)
So, my problem is this - the thing I do to keep me from having high BP, walking to keep me from obesity, is the thing I can't do now.
Hopefully, the doctor will have some good advice and information when I see him in about half an hour.

AFib in and of itself causes high B.P. A lot of people in my family have AFIB. Another thing to watch with it is extreme low B.P. at times.

Sad to read that. I am sure you will soon have it under control. Any ideas as to why it got so high?
I got in 108 miles for the month and my 1st two races. In both came in ahead of the other over 70 geezers with a best of 26:29 for the 5K. I am sure after a few more months I can lower that.
My blood pressure has always tended to run toward being too low. I have not seen a doctor in years, probably should as I am 77.
I'll be pulling for you to soon be back to normal as I need all the peers I can find. You have been great inspiration to me this year.

Messed around with a calculator a few times. So, tugalooriver® , I feel it's incumbent upon me to let you in on something. You say you're walking...but by the two out of three calculations I performed...you ain't walkin', Son...you is runnin'! Where you headin' in such a rush? Did you smell the roses...see the birds, heck, did you hear 'em? Did you at least get where you wanted to, even if a bit early?
Color me impressed!

I have a history with A-Fib myself. Diagnosed in 2004 but after 4 ablations I think it's under control. It's no fun for sure. Good luck to you.

and fake your desired walk numbers but it may take him 39.39 hours b/4 we see him cross the libe!
Hey, will never forgot that Killbender100 Miler at Mt Mitchell ordeal where he barely finished due to 3 nights of no sound sleep and a head cold & chest congestion day before race..
and you Sir were interested enough in following him on & off for couple days & many hours (with me & others) and made helpful & positive post remarks about his locations and his ability to kick it to the finish line.
Thanks again bretfsu and please keep us Tnetters posted about your BP situation!
Go Noles & Tigers~

Hope they get it under control. What medications are you currently taking for your BP? Are you also taking a Beta-Blocker? When I was taking amlodipene-benazapril plus Propanalol (beta blocker) I would come back from a 5-mile walk and find that my BP was 80/50! I stopped taking the amlodipene due to other issues, but the propanalol is maintaining my BP at around 110/65. Just something you might want to discuss with your doc. I'm not sure how the A-Fib would be affected.

into some form of exercise all you want, and I'm here to tell you that it ain't gonna work, dagnabbit!
This chair right here has got an 18-year dent in it, and that cushion and my butt are still the best of friends.
So take your good-for-nothin' positive attitude, and start walking, you hear!

Mine had a 20 year dent in it - loved that porch chair. I lost it, so with no place to sit, started walking. I hope to re-gain my previous life style by Christmas.
