Tree Rollins in 1976

I only saw Tree Rollins play in person one time. I was in about the 6th grade when most of the Clemson players came to Airport High School for an exhibition game. After the game the players gave autographs and had pictures taken with fans. I literally came up to Tree's waist.
That game was what made me a Clemson Tiger fan. I was a sorry Lamecock before that night. I feel better that I now have that off my chest.
I will be forever in debt to Tree for getting me on the right path.

There’s a good joke in there about being set on the right path by a “Tree”, but I’m slow this morning.

My Dad put me on the right path a couple times and what he had in his hand swinging at me looked like a tree.

We crossed paths daily going to class. I never failed to be impressed with his size.

I’m 5’10 and my girl was short. Was walking with her In tunnel to post office in Johnston Hall in 1975. Met Tree in tunnel. He just lifted his elbow to allow us to walk past. He was a tall dude.
