Treadwell v cat man

Jan 2, 2013, 6:39 PM

Prima facia evidence that some of you old farts will only embrace the past regardless of the facts or truth. I looked it up: cat man has a higher % of kicks made over his 3 years (about 79% to 70%) vs treadwells and has also made more field goals. Cat man has, however, missed 3 PATs to treadwells one.

Stats are useful but one should be careful making comparisons based totally on %. Treadwell was one tough CLUTCH kicker...game one the line? He was pure & after Catman's first year and esp this year, he, too, seems to be developing into Mr. Clutch also.

Obed Ariri? Donald Igwebuike?

Jan 2, 2013, 6:49 PM

Surely they are two of the best.

Agreed - I think Iggy was the best (or "Donald" as Danny

Treadwell was clutch at close range but at 40+ not so good.

Jan 2, 2013, 6:51 PM

He was 50% (11 of 22) for his career from 40+ yards and never made one over 50. Catman is also very clutch and accurate but has much greater range.

I will look the numbers up for Donald and obed

Don't get me wrong, all of these guys were great kickers. Treadwell was my hero growing up (first game was last minute win over jaw jaw in Death Valley). I have to respectfully disagree w/ thomash, kicker is probably the one position where the numbers don't lie.

I was surprised by these numbers too. Just goes to show how much the 80s have been romanticized by many.

Treadwell beat UGA twice which was a huge deal at the time.
