Tom Allen Appreciation

Lord alive this man came at the perfect time. I cannot imagine the disaster we'd be in right now without him. Defense is about the only thing we can hang our hats on through week 2. And if we shut down Haynes King and their running back Haynes I've got confidence that side of the ball has truly turned a corner.
I still miss Venables, but Allen looks to be the closest thing we could've ever gotten.

No doubt. Stopping Haynes King or not will let us know about stopping FL State and SC QBs.

Sorry but you are the delusional one here. Our lack of offense and the mistakes there are responsible for all of Troy’s scores. Not the lack of a good defense.

Excuse me? That first drive wasn't on the O. Troy shot themselves in the foot. Had it not been for the last drive when the game was over. After the failed 4th down... then they would have had more first downs and more yards + t o p.

they didn’t have the most points at the end of the game. That is the only statistic that matters.

Gashed? they let up 1 TD against troy and got 3 turnovers. If the offense can't play a lick of football and is giving up pick sixes idk what to tell you. Schematically Allen is a bend don't break type of guy while he's still feeling out what this team really has on defense. Points is what matters and we havent given up a whole heck of a lot of them on defense.
LSU controlled TOP by 14 min, heck they even forced a turnover and got it to the 30 and the offense went 3 and out and had to kick a FG. do you even watch football? Venables is calling the plays again at Oklahoma, if you don't think THAT is the reason they look better you're delusional. (also having a great QB so the defense isn't on the field the entire game, they ended that michigan game with like an 8 min drive)
We have more turnovers than TDs scored against us if thats not good enough idk what to tell you.

Seriously. They held a very good lsu to very little (yes lsu underperformed against their crap team just like we did but that’s still the best qb in the country and very good receivers). Defense has improved dramatically

Brent is living in the portal, if he doesn’t land another one year starter at QB next year, that’s just as good , they will run him off, just like they were going to do this year. But think what you want to fit your narrative.

You’re an idiot. LSU only got 108 rushing against us and Troy got 78. LSU would’ve rushed for 200+ on us and Troy would’ve been over 150. The Citadel had 300 yards rushing on us last year for gods sake. Yes, our defense had some big mistakes vs Troy but still only allowed 300 yds. This defense will continue to improve.

I promise you Wes is not the key to any success Brent is having. He looked terrified in the press conferences. There is no way he inspires head hunters.

we have more turnovers than TDs scored against us. If an offense leaves you out to dry all game eventually fatigue will set in.

Right , the offense has to move the ball and get 1st downs, if you keep going three and out the D never gets time to rest.

He brought no assistants. The coaches are learning Coach Allen’s defense as much as the players are
Don’t forget he himself said it would take at minimum 2 games for the defense to gel

My complaint with him so far is not blitzing enough on 3rd down. Stop dropping DEs back into coverage and bring everybody down to get to the QB.

I’m not impressed yet. Pass rush is lacking. Edges are not containing. Blitz not getting to the QB. Run gap ntegrity is lacking. Should be doing more to free up 3 and 11… Maybe we will get there, but he inherited dudes and they are not yet dominating.

I think the D is improved. I think our biggest issue was unreal expectations. The media hyped our Dline as best in the nation. They aren’t but they are still a talented group. We have in essence on LB we can trust in Brown. One DB in Terrell you feel great about. And our safeties have been a pleasant supple. Overall it’s a good not great group.
