Why. It's what 7-5 or 8-4 teams do? Don't complain and then have folks on here tout how great Dabo is. Can't have it both ways. Hate it but with this staff full of former players, 8-4/9-3 is the new normal. But it's what the old timers on here want. Right??

This early in the year these projections and post are just worthless. It’s game 3 of the season for Goodness sakes.

Know your history Jeffro

Add in that I do actually believe in Dabo’s primary mission and that I’m proud of how this program represents my Alma mater, and I’ll take this every year.

Maybe his primary mission should be winning natties to justify the 11 million dollar a year salary, which is a natty winning salary.

Don't know what "mission" you support, but I support a FB team that once won natties and played for them and attracted players that were natty caliber and committed to playing at Clemson because they wanted to win a natty.

So does that mean that you look at it as win at all cost, regardless of what it takes? You can still value winning but see it as secondary to instilling the proper values into these young men in the process.

Probably the only reason that we have not fallen off more in the NIL era is because of what Dabo does off of the football field. In the 80's I would have never dreamed that Clemson football would be among the leaders in graduation rate and GPA for the country. Peter Woods has spoken to the fact that he could have made more money going somewhere else, but he considers his choice to come to Clemson has one of the best decisions that he has made in his life.

Dabo may be resistant to change, but he is changing. Through his actions, Dabo is admitting that Tyler from Spartanburg was right. His last three hires have been outside of the Clemson family. I still hear everybody talk about him hiring former players, but Riley, Luke, and Allen had no Clemson ties unless I am mistaken. Regardless of how they turn out, all three appeared to be the best available at the time that they were hired, and 3 Clemson legacies were fired to make room. Dabo also brought in 3 guys from the transfer portal that will play significant reps this year. I keep hearing that we should have gotten a running back, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt that there was not one out there that was worth what it would have taken to get them.

But yes Junkyard, an important criteria of Dabo's job is winning football games. We have had 4 lean years where we dropped to 14, 12, 20, and 14 at seasons end in the AP. We were still the most successful program in the ACC over that stretch. Am I satisfied? No. Is Dabo? I doubt it, since he is making changes that we all know that he did not want to make. I don't know if we ever get back to the top, but if we do it will be what Dabo does off the field that gets us there. We'll never compete in the NIL market so he has to sell them on a benefits package other than the money. That's graduation with a solid GPA. That's PAW Journey. That's a history of positively influencing young men and making them into better husbands and fathers. This might not have been what Soywaker was talking about, but that is what I think of Dabo's job description.

I am an old-timer and this not what I want. How years have you been a loyal Clemson fan? This is my 50th year.

This may be the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. Why would anyone write or read an article on Bowl projections just 2 weeks into the season?
