Lol. "Good job."
Kiffin made the OPPOSITE point from Dabo, but piggybacked off Dabo to do it.
But yes, they both stated that the system is currently ridiculously unfair and will get worse until it gets overhauled.
But who can overhaul it? The NCAA has become a toothless tiger. The UNC debacle destroyed its credibility and authority.

If there is any proof that players are being paid illegally you can rest assured the IRS will find it. income is income and it is taxable regardless of whether you are in South Carolina, Mississippi and even Texas. The only difference is some states have state income tax and some don't. I doubt if there are over 100 players in the country that are making over 100K.

You're incorrect on that. All Texas O-linemen make 50k+. That's one team at one position. Approximately 10 players

You're right.
Most of the beauty and drama of college sports is how human the participants are. Kids who are 18-23 years old have an incredible spread in skills and learned techniques. But because they are students first, the NCAA has always limited the amount of athletic training players could get in a given week.
Professionals are protected by contracts. In exchange, they commit to many hours of physical development that college students cannot afford to take away from classes.
For the many who have no expectations of going pro, losing a scholly will be a huge step down.

They have opened up a world of new problems that college football didn't need. You gonna have a player on the team getting all the love and money and his teammates getting nothing. They helped the guy be successful and get that $$$$. Problems in the locker room will happen.

Gorsuch wrote the 9-0 opinion and Kavanaugh wrote the concurrence. "Nowhere else in America can businesses get away with agreeing not to pay their workers a fair market rate on the theory that their product is defined by not paying their workers a fair market rate. And under ordinary principles of antitrust law, it is not evident why college sports should be any different. The NCAA is not above the law." -Kavanaugh, J. (Concurring)

I would agree that NIL is going to ruin college football as we know it. However- to blame the left is ridiculous. This was a Supreme Court decision made by a conservative court with kavanaugh writing the final opinion. But certainly don’t let facts get in the way of an opportunity to make sports in to a political football again

Since when have conservatives been in favor of limiting the compensation of top performers and letting the free market reign?
Also - it parity is the reason why it should be capped, why is only player compensation capped and not coaches, assistants, facilities?? You have teams like Alabama with multiple former NFL head coaches on staff like that is somehow fair.

Who the best team that money can buy really is. The NCAA is a joke and this will dissolve them. Look for a new amateur governing body to arise sooner than later.

You know, after Nick made his comments the other day, Finebaum, commented on what he said, and a lot of it sounded just like what Dabo, had said. Some of the words he used were almost exactly the same as Dabos. Funny. How in the world did that sorry excuse for a sports reporter ever get a job?

Lane’s point shows what’s superstar player can do, Caleb Williams comes to mind. He entered the portal strictly for money. What happens though to a guy like DJ? If DJ were at another school with a guy like Jimbo and he comes in as a five star, is paid 2+ million in NIL money and he flops? Are we going to see coaches go the John Calipari route. Yes the NCAA added the rule to power five schools that a scholarship cannot be revoked for on field performance reasons, but the wording of the rule will allow for coaches to use other reasons to yank a kids scholarship. NIL is going to do exactly what Swinney said, it’s going to hurt them and their education!! Less than two percent of power five kids will go to the nfl, the other 98% will need that degree. When college football players begin picking the school based on the nil they’re promised, we’re going to see grad rates drop significantly and it will hurt the 98% the Most. Especially African America young men. Education is the largest reason for the wealth gap in America and NiL money will run out for these kids fast….. then what?

Well, college athletics were professinalized a long time ago when they start paying coaches millions per year. How can it be about education? Sure football is a massive pull to get students, but it is entertainment and not education. I wonder how much profit Clemson turns on it's most popular major.
I certainly get Kiffen's point. NIL was created vacuum not considering different laws in different a states. JMHO, if they are going to pay players then all of the players should be on scholarships. Why limit how many scholarships a school can offer? These kids more than pay their way for school by contributing to so much revenue. Start there. Maybe start by capping coaches salaries.

While you make some interesting points, please don't forget that there are professors making in n excess of a million per year for minimal course schedules. Look no farther than America's favorite Native American Elizabeth Warren who made 1 mil+ for teaching one course. Yeah, I'm sure that is ALL about education. And she is far from the only one. While most come nowhere near that, it DOES happen in Academia.
