I think overall they are pretty accurate. I see the same. I don't care though. I will take the spot and hope we improve. I like the fact that the team is getting ragged on. Hopefully they will have chip on their shoulder the rest of the way and step it up.

We just have to win out. One slip up and we’re out, then, how many times will we hear from these biased analysts - “I told you so”.

Alabama education at its finest. To be an analyst you'd think they would understand the impact of personnel changes.

Facts are:
NC State is down a starting QB.
And McElroy could only get into Alabama (because of his academic potential)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The Michigan arguments are hilarious to me.

Nov 2, 2022, 12:54 PM

Worse SOS and SOR.

That dominant offense "that jumps off the screen" is averaging 3.9 more PPG and 48.3 more YPG again against a worse SOS.

But hey, just goes to prove the Eye Test isn't always what it seems.

IMHO Michigan doesn't have too much of a valid argument, however, TCU on the other hand...

TCU barely got by OkState who just got shutout by KState

Nov 2, 2022, 2:03 PM

And no talking head is talking about this.

TCU is fun to watch on offense, but defensively they are not championship caliber, and the committee knows this.

I would agree. They have one signature win here and that's Penn State. The next would probably be Maryland and unlike Clemson, three of their other wins came off of McGee's Bottom 10. Of course their defense looked dominant against those guys. That said, I can't find too much fault in their assessment of us as early in the season, I was quite concerned with how little pressure we were putting on opposing offenses (and that included Furman and La Tech) and I still have a bit of a knot in my stomach over that. DJ has played solid outside the opener with GT and Syracuse, yet we have struggled for whatever reason (baffling play calling perhaps...why throw long and over the middle on 3rd and 4 when Syracuse hadn't really had much luck against the run?). I'm sure the bandwagoneers on here will throw a bunch of crap my way, but McElroy, Pollack and others are right, if we don't get our house in order, we may not survive the season, much less keep our CFP spot.

As far as the other teams go, I'm unsure about Ohio St, but Tennessee looks scary quite frankly (like LSU looked a few years ago). TCU looks alright, and for once a good portion of the BIG 12 is decent, kinda like the ACC Atlantic, so that helps. They aren't Tenn of course, but what's more outrageous to me is that Bama is ahead of them, because like us, Bama has looked vulnerable this year.

But go ahead, tell me I'm a Coot, it bothers me very little, because I know half of those who would call me that couldn't tell me what Clemson House or Edgar's was or where to find the Shoeboxes, married student housing or the East Campus Store on an old campus map.

Go Tigers

I wish Dabo could have been there to question them about how hard they ride the SEC when Bama and UGA have been the highest ranked in the SEC for years with the exception of LSU one year, and only Clemson has played Bama 4 times in the NCG, and LSU the one year they were in there, and Clemson and LSU are 1-1 the last two times we've played them!!!

Re: TNET: ESPN analysts react to Clemson's No. 4 CFP ranking

Nov 2, 2022, 1:25 PM

Agree, but they aren't supposed to consider anything from the past or the future.... only what they've seen on the field THIS year to date. So I think us winning against 4 ranked teams mattered more than any past stats or our history. At least I hope so.... otherwise, Bama would be #1 every year.

None of it bothers me. Until proven otherwise, the team I hate is 1, in my opinion, that being UGA. Their offense is a meat grinder. When they are clicking, it will take some serious depth to play with them in the last third of the game.

It's weird how they want to treat this as if it's the final ranking. I have dozens of valid counter arguments for these "experts".

My most subtle point

Nov 2, 2022, 1:51 PM

F those guys. We know about having Tiger blood. Michigan hasn't played anyone, but looked better doing it? Ours wins were vs top 15 teams and we broke them, that's why they are 20/21/22 now. They got hit by the C train!

We just need to keep winning, as as my wise friend above said: LET THE HATE FLOW!!!

Analysts don't seem to be looking at defense and special teams

Nov 2, 2022, 1:59 PM

Which is stubbornly head scratching (and kind of biased).

Re: Analysts don't seem to be looking at defense and special teams

Nov 2, 2022, 2:35 PM

Clemson has not been a very dominating team thus far this year and the tv “experts” see this as you and I do.

Our Tigers haven’t played their best ball as yet . Just as you, In have watched every game very closely and I have been disappointed with what I see. It’s very comforting to me to realize that Clemson will continue to get better and remain “ in the hunt” as the championship time nears. A very, very big game coming up in three days. Win and you remain in the race. Dabo knows this. I am betting that we will see something new in the Tiger offense.

That's because the SEC has almost no defenses... they are the new Big 12.

Re: TNET: ESPN analysts react to Clemson's No. 4 CFP ranking

Nov 2, 2022, 2:34 PM

Let’s just say it McElroy is an SEC lover and Joey Galloway is a BG10 lover. The committee have stated they don’t look at the future and they look at the games in the present so for example NC State had their outstanding QB Leary when Clemson played them. Clemson beat 3 teams in tge top 20 when they played them not what they are now (below the top 20). These ESECPN people need to pay attention.

I have to say that I agree with them. This weekend will tell us a lot. I'm ok with continuing to squeak by with a win for the rest of this seasons games and all three post season games. That will be just fine.

Re: TNET: ESPN analysts react to Clemson's No. 4 CFP ranking

Nov 2, 2022, 3:53 PM

I sorta get some of the criticism ranking Clemson at 4, but not totally. I could see switching the tigers with TCU. But the Horned Frogs D hasn't been stellar. SMU put up 34 in a close game. They closely beat WVa and so did Pitt. Is Pitt that good? I don't like comparing games with common opponents but there isn't much else at this point. Michigan looks good. But one good win. I know past history is not part of the equation but you can't tell me its insignificant. Everyone thought Big Blue was destined last year until Bama laid the wood to'em. Who got the same from UGA. When teams run thru their schedules only to go down in defeat time after time in post season, its hard to give them that credit until they prove otherwise. Every year Clemson has been criticized for its schedule but they've won late season big games. Not all, but more than most. Combine that with a D you know can keep them in any game and the talented roster, its hard not to put them at 4. In the end, it will play out anyway. If TCU and Michigan win out, no doubt they're in.

Re: TNET: ESPN analysts react to Clemson's No. 4 CFP ranking

Nov 2, 2022, 4:55 PM

I agree with McElroy's perception of the NC State - VA Tech game, particularly the first half. It was painful to follow. BUT...what he didn't say was that when Clemson beat NC State, Leary was healthy and playing QB. That's a BIG difference. Leary's absence is likely to result in NC State eventually dropping out of the top 25, possibly next week if they lose to Wake. Then McElroy goes on to repeat that the Tigers have beat three top 25 teams. He's just bitter and can't accept the rankings. Love to see him in such distress...

Let’s not forget that LSU lost to Florida State
And Pitt took Tennessee to overtime This year!
IMO if the ACC was as weak as the analysts perceive, the SEC would want to schedule more regular season games with these weak ACC teams. Just sayin’

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Just keep winning and winning

Nov 2, 2022, 8:28 PM

Those SEC tears are so wonderful! Imagine if an SEC or Michigan has the Nations longest win streak! That’s all you’d here..lol

I love these ugly winning Tigers over play no one Ohio State/Michigan.

Who has Alabama beaten that is ranked?

Nov 3, 2022, 10:43 AM

I will say this about NCST. If the committee wants to pick the best teams as of right now, which they should, then NCST is probably not very good without Leary, right? Sort of like, would Tenn be the best team in the nation without Hooker?

Sorry, Captain Obvious there....

And I will add this about McElroy, he absolutely called TCU being "sneaky good" before the season even started. I remember hearing that on the radio. I was like, "Huh?!"
