I believe that all contract employees (coaches) will not lose days, only a 10% pay cut.

Conservatives don't want big- money Government employees. But the legal of the 1960's Liberals is the forever creep of Government - and public education is a big part - into the overall economy.
Heck, I'm the CFO for our Company and we issued a furlough notice 5 full months ago to all our employees. So I feel Clemson is a bit behind the curve here - as usual for a governmental entity.
It's unusual territory for these people to have to justify their existence on the Payroll in the same way we do in the private sector.
Riots, the reticence to provide law and order for the citizenry, political intrusion into health policy exacerbating the many unknowns of the pathogen, failure of certain governmental units (like certain California) to be able to pay for primary services, drug abuse and overdose rates increasing, etc. etc. -
the Pandemic now simply continually exposing the cracks in the Liberal way of life.

that the cost of University Education has been spiraling out of control for kids for several decades.
My point was simply to highlight that people are clue-ing in to the idea that a University degree should have a cost-benefit payback that is generally short lived. Otherwise people will no longer may that choice and will simply enter the workforce in another way. It can be done, you know. In fact, I'm pretty sure your Sainted William Gates never finished his College degree....

So you'd like colleges to become more socialist?
They're just taking advantage of the demand that is there for a premium college experience. You know, capitalism.
I think the huge decrease in federal funding for colleges would be a far greater impact than a few higher ups making $200k.
A step in the right direction would be eliminating predatory lenders in school loans and getting rid of the interest rate on federal loans. It's a complete joke that our own government is trying to profit off their citizens trying to better themselves. Why can I get an auto loan for a depreciating asset for 2% interest, but the fed wants >4.5% so I can make myself and the country better?
Also, on average a college educated male makes $900k more in a lifetime vs a high school grad, so even the bonkers expensive private schools are worth the $200k from a pure numbers standpoint.

There's nothing about Public Education that was ever intended to be "Capitalist" or "Socialist". WTH?
Is the Department of Transportation Capitalist? No, it's a Governmental unit, providing services to the people, just like all Governmental units. It isn't, by its very nature, intended to "make a profit" off the people. We AREN'T Communists trying to funnel the Profits of GDP into the Government!
Nor is any Educational unit intended to maximize the Salaries of the Professors teaching the classes.
The point is deliver the best Education at the lowest cost. That "lowest cost" MAY be higher than the "lowest possible cost" as the "best education" requires competitive salary structures for better Professors.
But suggesting that ANY University should have the goal of providing the highest salary to its Professors is an absolute Abomination of what was intended.
LOL - they've been teaching kids so much cr*p for so long, you can't even elucidate what the primary roles of Business versus Government are anymore.

3.3 million dollar payroll with benefits for 36 people. That ave over $ 80000 per person so a few days furlough won't hurt much.
Some of these jobs used to be volunteers.
Not sure head guys deserve $200000 plus salaries.
I hate fact that Iptay hires non Clemson grads.
Seems to me should be Clemson folks instead of arrogant folks from outside the Clemson family .
Some jobs its good to have outside people but not Iptay.

The issue with keeping old buildings like Clemson House around for too long is the upkeep begins to cost more than just tearing it down and starting over. Also, Clemson was running out of room to grow in student population and needed the space Clemson House was on for the expansion.
I lived in Clemson House as a freshman and absolutely adored it, but it was time.
