Dabo can act like we had some magic coaching formula from 2015-2020, but the reality is that we won big because we had the best players at key positions.
Not to minimize the importance of culture and recruiting good guys, but as we have seen the last 5 years, culture doesn’t make up for not having the Jimmies and Joes.

I only see Heldt and Sammy giving all out effort. It feels like some of those guys ready for the NFL are just playing not to get hurt and playing half-@###.
And I'm sure Allen also wants to say "It'll be nice if the offense pulls their head out their ### and looks somewhat competent from here on out and stop putting all the pressure on us to throw a #### near shutout every game"

Probably because we can't run a 4-3 and with the system we do have Woodaz can't tackle. We also could use some more pressure on the QB.

Our linebackers can’t cover a rb either. I don’t get it. You play a 4-2 so you have 5 in pass coverage. Why in the world is our lb’s ever put into a position to cover downfield.

I don't understand the hate for the defense. Every opposing offense we have played ran a scheme that has neutralized the D-line by getting the ball out quickly. Clemson defense has been great against the run. Woodaz has missed tackles and taken some bad angles and our safeties have struggled a little without Barnes. But I firmly believe if our offense could stay on the field for more than 40 seconds at a time this defense would resemble the Venables units. Defense was gassed in 2nd half vs LSU and GT because offense kept giving them the ball and field position.
If our offense can find a way to be even somewhat productive I think everyone will change their tune on the defense. No matter what you think about this defense, you have to agree it is 1000 times better than the Wes Goodwin product.

I don’t think we’d resemble Venables, but we’d look better than we do now. There’s issues on defense, but no where near as many as what the offense has.

While I disagree about the Venables comp, the D has been solid yet unspectacular. They have been inconsistent but kept the team in every game. The Offense has to start showing up.

If you’re going to lose, make him throw the ball. Terrible adjustment and planning for a QB who decided he was going to carry his team to victory with his legs. Everyone in the stadium and on TV knew it.
He has a lot of work to do but not as much as Riley.

I appreciate the post, but my question has been this season wise Tom Allen up in the press box booth calling the defenses. I understand from sources that Dabo wanted him up there and did not want him on the sidelines. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I would ask why? I would think you’d want your defensive coordinator on the sidelines inspiring his defense like Brent Venables did? Just observation and a question.
