You tell em Dabo!!! Anyone who thinks the current lack of rules are good for the game doesn't care about the kids themselves. This is a pivotal time in the lives of these youngsters, and the current environment only makes it more confusing for them. They see $$$, and that is just not there for the vast majority of them. Sad situation...
Stick by your guns Dabo!!!

And then, every time Dabo comes out and speaks of the wrongs being done with the way the NCCA has left the transfer portal, and/or the NIL open on both ends for the Rules to be broken without consequences for the Rules Breakers, coaches through out all of college FB refuse to stand for what's right, and they will pick Dabo's words apart, and use it to their favor with negative recruiting against Dabo and Clemson FB!!!

Among the standards of behavior for the really good people are to speak out when moral imperatives require them to do so.

Dabo isn't speaking out because he hopes to get a 'recruiting advantage.' He is taking the risk of speaking the truth (i.e., that which isn't necessarily popular) because it is morally right.

As the old saying goes: What's right isn't always popular, and what's popular isn't always right.

I love Clemson football, but not at the price of harming the lives of young people.

I don't understand why people didn't see this from the very beginning. Making cheating legal is strange, but it's just going to help the Bama type teams even more.

Before it was approved, a few rules would have been appropriate. Without rules, regulations, or laws, there is chaos. Fact.

Congrats on reaching 1000 TUs and Guru status.

He's right. Sadly he's right that others aren't speaking out about it. Yeah, you have your cursory, "wink of an eye" cringe story by jumbo fisher while they're cashing in.

I'm afraid It'll take a sad story from a popular kid that does something that affirms what he's saying. One that comes out with specifics of a coach and how they tampered... Something that the media can jump on.

Sometime when things are done good with good intentions, the results are not exactly what was they were supposed to be. If your mother left the top off the cookie jar and then goes next door, are you going to get cookies or not? The good of the portal and NIL are reality. Sadly, the bad of the portal and NIL are also reality whether Dabo or a dozen other coaches realize what is happening. There is a new world of college football and you either play the game or die.

Dabo is a man of significant wisdom ….. a leader with integrity…..so hard to find these days. Clemson is very fortunate to have him and his positive influence on young people is a blessing for life.

If you Can Pay to Score TD's; You can pay "NOT"

Feb 21, 2022, 6:10 PM

What is stopping those boosters who have no moral standing from paying a player to either shave points, not score TD's, not make a block, etc?
These kids don't even really have to make public appearances or do much of anything for the money; so what's done behind close doors!
I personally think Clemson has fell a bit victim to it honestly! Not hopefully the "don't score and shave points part"! But, the I will pay you to leave Clemson part(weaken the quality depth)! When Clemson rose to the top of CFB it was because in part - quality depth! One player gets burned or injured and bang - you plug in somebody else that is just as good. Everybody can't do that!

Anything that weakens your biggest threat in those people's minds: "is a good thing"!

Clemson is a threat to the "propaganda" that is SEC dominance!

The tampering needs to be a totally different set of rules. It's not a part of TP or NIL and should have harsh consequences behind it if caught.

These coaches who are tampering are putting tons of pressure on the players. Tampering should be included in the rules as a major recruiting violation with penalties that matter (and not addressed 10 years after the fact).

I can see NCAA football having a major split. Some schools will go the semi pro route, and some will go the education route. I think both will have their own audiences for a time. But the education route will pay off. The semi pro route will turn into NFL minors, XFL, Arena league and lose its flare and passion for the game and have no ties to education, just the school. Kids will be paid a fraction of NFL money and be able to play however long they want to. (With all these changes, why not do away with the eligibility rule too? I mean, why is it fair a kid can't play college football more than 4-5 years?). They will get little to no real leadership or development (all the things that college sports is supposed to be doing) because they will transfer to the highest bidder each year. Finally the players will be 26 years old, worn down bodies, broke, and no education. It will rub off on the fans and any passion for the game will be lost. It'll be like going to a minor league hockey game in the south.

The NCAA abdicated their position of responsibility! The politicians being lobbied by special forces interest groups bought into the lie that blacks were being mistreated and used as slaves! They then passed laws about NIL that mor or less forced the colleges hand .
The transfer portal. Is pretty much the same way. Total screw up! Caused in large part by the woke , liberal racist crowd!

The people who cry race with every breath. The people who perpetrated a lie on America that Cops are out hunting Black People down and shooting them at will!
The people who knelt down during the National Anthem.
The people who want a high percentage of Coaches to be Black because they are Black. But they don’t have a problem with representation on the field.
Liberal idiots who push LGBTQ crap! People who think it’s ok for Men to compete against the women as women! People who believe the lie of Man Made Climate Change! People who want Socialism!

I believe that no one should be judged by the color of their skin but the content of their Character! The job or the position goes to the best player or coach regardless of color!! Color Blind used to be a goal for our society! A noble one!

I think Coach Swinney has hit the nail on the head. Coaches who are benefiting from tampering will keep their mouths shut. I'm sure the new guy at the University of Southern California is loving the new rules. I wonder about all his players, as their locker room gets filled with his guys from OU.

In my view, the mistake Coach Swinney is making is not having a concrete proposal to offer. To say the portal is good but also bad and needs regulation is absolutely correct, but his case would be stronger if he publicly proposed details on how to strike a good balance between needed regulations and player freedom.

Dabo did give a concrete solution for tampering in that interview
He was all for athletes right to transfer but suggested that when they transfer they would have to sit out a year before playing for the new school. However they would also get that year of eligibility back and not “lose a year “. That would stop schools from recruiting off other schools rosters for a quick fix. Also give the transfer a transition period and reason pause before jumping ship without consideration.
