Hey, I kinda like that.

I'm guardedly optimistic.

Kid has his head on straight. I can definitely appreciate that. Wish we had more like him. Hope that translates over to leadership, wisdom and better play

Would love to see DJ light it up this year***

I believe in DJ this year. He will be much improved.

I want to see DJ excel and leave here with his head high

and feel good about his Clemson experience as Klubnik comes in for him midway through game 3, not relinquishing the position for the rest of the season.

Ahhhhh. No, coach. No one wants to see you gone. There need to be expectations for a few down years. We need to appreciate the great years, knowing that once in a while, things ain't gonna be sunshine and friggin daisies.

No one wants to see Dabo gone or DJ fail outside of coot fans. I also dont want to expect down years. We will certainly have years where things dont go our way but last year we entered the season with an offense which was not ready to play which was on the coaches. Injuries decimated us by mid year but at the start of the year we had no workable plan. Had we decided to go with the running game earlier in the season perhaps another win or two was possible.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You need an offensive line to have a running game.***

In the article, Dabo said people were calling for his head, or so it appeared to me. Thats what started my initial response.
Nothing lasts forever and no one is perfect. No one wants a down year, but to believe that there wont be one now and then, is not living in reality. And I refuse to be like the bammer fans. Last year had its issues, but I'll be dammed if I'm gonna call for heads and bunch up the panties.
And btw, coaches can jump up and down, have the best plan, be meticulous in preparation, scouting reports, etc. If the players fail to prepare, all that the coaches do is spitting in the wind. Its my opinion that part of the issue with the offense last year, and there were a few, were that the Wr's were not doing their part. Call it ego, laziness, injury or whatever, they were not helping the situation. Anyway, bad decisions lead to wisdom which leads to good decisions. Lets hope that settled in for everyone.

Here's hoping DJ's third year is fantastic. Last year, the hype was so high going in, it was all but a guaranteed fail. This year, expectations are low and he may be able to exceed what everyone thinks is possible. I certainly hope so!

DJ is capable to be one of the best QB’s we’ve ever had

Jul 21, 2022, 10:18 AM

It’s all about him processing quickly the right throw, run or play and performing at a high level. His past is a great indication of his future so I look forward to DJ playing like the QB he has always been in the past, a champion playing at a high level.

I love the fact he never complained and he kept stepping up to the plate to swing. I can’t wait to see his progress, if Dabo believes in him being great then we should too!

Let’s go DJ and let’s go Tigers! Up tempo scores left and right!

He's got that part right! What is it they say? Don't tell people your problems, half the people don't
care the the rest are glad you have them!
Let's keep that in the rearview and look ahead to big year this year.
The one thing we know is that we have multiple QB's this year that can play.

I expect to see a much improved DJ this season and wish him all the good fortune in the world. I was thrilled when he committed, because he had all the skills needed. His mother has raised him to be humble and unassuming.

Dabo is the best

Jul 21, 2022, 10:43 AM

Clemson alum/fans would not trade Dabo as he knows well. And Dabo can spin it. Still looking for Klubnik to beat out DJ sometime this season, no matter how much DJ weighs, or how much Dabo respects him. Agree with Obed®, it's great that Dabo is giving DJ every shot to be at his best for the Tigers, and play and possibly relinquish the #1 QB spot with his head held high.

Last year Stetson Bennett led UGA to the natl championship with an NCAA QB ranking of 25, and a Top 5 all-time defense. DJ ranked approx. 95 among NCAA QB's. So how much can DJ improve his accuracy, mobility and decision making with his improved health? This is the talking season, we'll find out soon, and we know based on Kelly Bryant & Trevor Lawrence that Dabo will play the top QB. We also know based on Stetson Bennett, a natl championship can be won by a good QB/leader and a great defense.

I’ll admit……

Jul 21, 2022, 3:16 PM

I bashed DJ last Season because I was frustrated at watching him trying to QB. He just didn’t look like he had ever played the position before….his mechanics, accuracy, defensive reads and that “deer in the headlights “ look he most often had. I drank the DJ
kool-aid in the off season before the games started last year…..and based on his performances in 2020, I was really looking for a super year from him. WOW…..was I ever disappointed and flabbergasted at what I was seeing.
BUT…..I’ve learned a lot more about this young man as last Season came and went and a new Off Season is now beginning to come to and end. I have a new found respect for him and think he is a genuinely a fine young man with a great constitution……he is just unwavering in his faith and commitment.
I wish him all the best!!!!!
Go DJ!!!??
Go Tigers!!!??????

Jul 22, 2022, 7:32 PM [ in reply to id be interested in seeing a list of what else was so wrong ]

What happened last season is very easy to point out! Clemson's football team had an unbelievable amount of injuries to the ENTIRE offense! No one seems to understand the impact of this. Let me break it down another way. Only 2 people who started against Georgia also started and played the majority of snaps, the remaining 12 games! TWO people! One of them happened to be an INJURED QB (DJ)! The other was Jordan McFadden the left Tackle! The skill positions were decimated with injuries and in some cases were starting a walk on who never plays until mop up time. Our 2 best WRs the last several games, were 2 true freshmen and a former walk on. I cannot remember a football team that offensively had the attrition that CU had last season, and I can sure say there is no team in College Football History that has lost 9 starters for a chunk of the season and still won their conference, let alone even made the playoffs. Clemson last year was within 2 plays of doing both!
