Clemson is reeling ? From 1 player's decommitment ?
A bit dramatic , don't you think Mr. Mann ?
Clemson is reeling from it's 1-3 start and the fanbase's emotional meltdown ....but one HS DL not keeping his "pledge" isn't going to send this program off of the deep end.

Bingo Tigerdug, a 1-3 causes their melodramatic senses to work overtime and pile on with every chance they get.
Here is where I'm lost or confuse a bit. Crump and Cross got T-Net going and I would think that the two would advise against kicking players or coaches when they're down or having a rough go of it. Just me, but that's the way that I feel, and I think that the reeling comment was a little out of line IMHO...

His 2 visits were LSU and Syracuse? The Syracuse game was the worst overall experience that I have had in 49 years of attending games. The noon start, heat, and terrible play sent me out early for the first time since FSU and Winston killed us.

Absolutely not. I’m sure theirs a coaches kid that needs that Scholly!
Also, stop playing freshman. Just because they changed the rules and every else does it, doesn’t mean Clemson has too. We’re different here.
Adapting is for the weak.

Also, why go ahead and offer him- we can wait. Why change offering more and earlier.

ESPN rankings have him as a 4 Star. He might be better than his ranking, who knows.

He very well could be that diamond in the rough and I hope that he will get his chance to prove it. I have seen things like this happen with Clemson before, and the player (RB I Think) Clemson replaced him with what turned out to be a much better player, and he had a better career in FB than the decommitment had...
My memory fails me and I can't remember the RB's name, but I think it was Ellington, or Gallman...

Rivals, that in itself explains why Clemson is in the position they currently are, that this is even explained as a suitable replacement for losing a top 200 recruit is beyond fathomable.

This is exactly right.
This right here exactly explains why we are where we are.
We lose a top 250ish kid and to replace him… we go get some scrub from right down the road that nobody has heard of.
This right here is exactly how we’ve gotten to the point we are.
But but… he’s 6’7 265… well that’s unbelievable size but don’t you think if he could really play… he would have already had big offers considering his size?
I saw him live bc we played Greenville just a couple weeks ago… never heard or saw the kids name called once.
Just another 6/7/8th option fallback instead of going out… scouring the country for the very best replacement possible.
We do this bc it requires no effort or time. Dabo has gotten lazy and has been for a long time which also explains his coaching staff hires.
Dabo goes for convenient now and that’s a huge problem.

YES! Because every time we lose out in a four or five star, we always go get some three star upstate kid as a backup plan. And that ALWAYS works out for us!

IDK - Quin was not exactly a Da'Quan Bowers so if he is our only loss we can live with it and USE the portal to get someone better. He could be just looking for more cash anyway so maybe Dabo will pay up and get him back? Who knows the way things work now.

but of a project. Never played football in HS until this season. Hes a one man wrecking crew, but getting low, block shedding, etc aren’t yet natural. Don’t know if he’s a TE or DE, but dude is a good athlete in a huge frame. Get him at whatever cost, and coach him to become a force.

UGA has offered but they offer 4:1 what we offer. They will just rescind it when they get a commutable offer from a higher ranked kid. Sometimes I wonder if our approach is too lackadaisical because we don’t ever have a fall back plan or depth for that matter. 🤔

Maybe, just maybe, Clemson should consider DE to be an ‘over sign by one guy’ exception to the Clemson recruiting modus operandi.
Believe it or not, there’s a remote, teeny weenie chance that another decommitment might just maybe happen before signing day … in which case we’ll have an open spot.

No it is not the answer. That's why we are in the situation we are in now. No depth. We offer fewer recruits than almost everyone else and when we lose them, for whatever reason, we go after some low rated player that no other power 4 school wants. Plenty of highly rated kids out there, go do your jobs that you are getting paid millions to do and put a quality product on the field.

Why are you not working with a school advising them with how many offers they've made and how many more offers they need to make to keep up with the offers everybody else is offering...

Allorange, take a look at our last 5 recruiting classes. How has recruiting been? How is our depth at RB? Depth at DE? Depth at safety and LB? All not very good. Just causevwe have numbers there doesn't mean it's good depth. Have a converted WR playing RB and what all the other RBs have like 5 carries? Other than Sammy Brown do we have anyone that will play on Sundays. Our best safety is a converted WR. Offering a handfull of players then setling on some low ranked player isn't working bud. I will always pull for our young Tigers, but when critisizm is warranted for the coaching then it's coming.

I teach at Hampton County High School (the team in the video). I drove up for the game Friday night and I can tell you that I saw a very good running back. I am in no way saying he's "the answer" but he's young and may only get better. He's definitely one to keep our eye on and I would hate to see him "get away" and play for another major D-1 program.

Not ideal scenario given urgent need for DEs - but a position change is fallback

If DE doesn’t work out, then DT or even OT might be a winner.
As others have suggested, selective / discriminate use of the portal to address DE needs is not outside of Clemson’s recruiting & roster-building philosophy.
