I am not that old but not too far off. I have hit the age where I can tell I am getting some age on me. I have noticed a change last 2-3 yrs, but considering all the chemo and radiation I have ensured since 2010, I am kicking pretty good. I have classmates that are way more crippled or aged than myself so I can't complain too much.

Puts you 5 years behind me.
That means you were still just learning to walk while I was already walking to grammar school 1st grade. And we didn't have a car that ran most of the time and the school bus, even if they had them, didn't come near our house.
So, i walked to school until I started driving a school bus at 15 yoa as a substitute driver, then full time at age 16, my last two years in HS. I got paid $40 a month. That was equal to about a dollar an hour. But it was a lot of money for a poor teen. I got my driver's license at age 13. Had been driving since age 11. Sat on pillow and looked thru steering wheel.
You could get SC DL at age 14. I was 2 months shy of 14 and lied about my age as my father needed me to help him make deliveries in an old truck we had because he had an operation and couldn't drive for a few weeks. So he signed saying i was 14. We were poor and you did what you had to do to survive.
If it had 4 wheels and would start, I could drive it.
Years later I got interested in flying airplanes and got my private pilot license and bought a single engine Cessna 172. Soloed after 8 hours flight training and was scared to death when I realized I was a few thousand feet above the ground and had to get back down w/o killing myself.
God has been good to me and has saved my life many times in the past 82 years.

1947. Got a permit at 14 to drive between 6am and 6pm. The vehicle used was a 1938 Chevy 2 door sedan with a '48 motor and a floor mounted shift. Didn't ride the bus after the eighth grade at G'ville Jr High on Westfield street driving there from behind the future location of Haywood Mall using a '49 Hudson Commodore. Took turns driving with a classmate who lived nearby in a '51 Studebaker. Swimmed many summer days at Woods Lake on Congaree Rd getting there riding a bike. After WHHS opened, Congaree was part of the dividing line between the district for that HS and GHS. Those living north of it went to WHHS.
