Both are good teams in the middle of the pack in the ACC.

We don't seem to match up well with Miami, but we are playing with more confidence lately now that we've seen some outside shots fall and had two big road wins last week. Being home in front of what will hopefully be a great crowd should help. We owe them for beating us earlier this year.
I believe we match up better with NC State. It will be nice to get them in Littlejohn also. I'm excited to see our guys go against their former teammate in Ben Middlebrooks.
This week represents a great opportunity for us to continue to build momentum and separate ourselves from the middle of the pack in the ACC.
Go Tigers!

It won't be easy... did Pack reinjure his ankle Saturday? He looked banged up.

Miami thrashed us the first game and we cannot afford another bad game against them. As for State, Horne is solid transfer who can score the ball and no pun intended, Burns is a load. Keeping PJ and Schief out of foul trouble will be the key.

Let's address each, one at a time.
Miami - Miami lost a couple of good players to the NBA last year in Wong and Miller. Despite these losses, they have returned a formidable squad, at least talent wise. However, inconsistency seems to be the best term to describe this year's Miami team. They have shown the ability to take North Carolina to the wire, but have also shown the ineptness of losing to Louisville and only scoring 38 points in a loss at Virginia. If we come in and play our game the way we can, I believe we will win. if Miami comes in and plays as if their backs are against the wall, they may come out of a Littlejohn with the signature win they desperately need. I hope not. I’m calling a Tiger win behind a solid Wiggin’s performance.
NC State - NC State has the ability to light it up. Morsell, Horne, Taylor and the Burns are all contributing in double figure scoring for the Pack in what has been a terribly mediocre season. Which is pretty much a typical Kevin Keats’ season. As always, and like other teams, NC State fans are unsatisfied being the third team out of three in the triangle area. Wake Forest’s last minute win on Saturday only made Keats’ seat even hotter.
One interesting facet to this contest will be the return of Ben Middlebrooks and of course, Jack Clark playing his old teammates. Both will undoubtedly be looking to contribute greatly to show their old squads what they are missing. I’m going to call this one an “L” with NC state getting a win that will keep them just outside the bubble.
Both contests - There are folks on here that will attempt to pinpoint coaching records against these two teams and in doing so they need to look at both teams, not one or the other. Brownell has a losing record against Miami (7-10) and a winning one against NC State (11-8). I said previously that Brownell’s future is ultimately going to be based on the wins and losses of this season. The next two games are really big ones for Coach Brownell, but maybe even more so for Clemson given the logjam these three teams are in right now. We will see if this team can capitalize on the position they have put themselves in the last couple of games. The experts are continually telling us that Clemson is in the NCAA tournament and we all know what that means with the administration. I would implore our fans to get behind this team and get excited about the possibilities that could occur, regardless of which looney bin you reside.
So, I’m calling us to go 1-1 this week. Would be great to go 2-0 and keep the boo birds away. Afterall, we’ve never lost a conference tournament in a year where Brownell beat an ACC top 25 team on the road. So we got that!
Go Tigers!
