I have mixed feelings when watching him play. I pulled for him last year at Oregon St, he's a Clemson Grad and gave his all here, it just didn't work out. However, now that he is at a rival in FSU that changes things. Wondering what the overall perception of him is, not much history of Clemson grads playing at rivals, except Feaster.

That said, I can't really root for him this year either since he's at FSU.

Their fans are essentially loud Yankees, their campus is an urban #### hole which rivals SCU, and they purchased their football team.

Amen. Agreed. And I blame him for slowing our momentum in 21. Hopefully we get it back this year. He’s just bad vibes for me. Deep dislike for him. He’s in it for himself. A cheap sell sword.

I hope our defense pummels him into submission. After the game, no issue with the guy. He did his part at Clemson and moved on. That is his choice and right to do so. No hard feelings with the man.

Can’t root for him to have too much on the field success this year since he’s at a rival. But wish him all of the off field success in the world. Guy is a Clemson grad who put in 3 years. I don’t begrudge anyone who transfers if they actually stick it out long enough to graduate!

After watching the first 6 or 7 plays, the FSU OL is huge and really good which is a QB's dream. FSU is really good.

Yup. 12 completions for 96 yards at half.
Tech has gotten more pressure than I thought they would.
I want FSU to keep winning until we go into Tally and get a highly-ranked tombstone win.

I don't have anything against DJ. FSU really deserves Big Dave, though I hope he doesn't annoy Book Guy too much if they are the last two left in the stands.

DJU's slow first step, his inability to hit a crossing route...

along with his inability to run the option effectively cost Clemson several game. That ignores the fact that his inability to check down before the defense is upon him which mostly leads to him throwing the ball away to keep from getting hit had not changed. Those are facts.
My next comment is opinion. I think he's more worried about his NFL career, lmao, than wins and losses during his college career and that is evident in the fact that he is always the best QB on the team when he's wearing a purple jersey.
I do not think he can change his natural inability and I do not think he is doing all he he can to win and I do not believe he will this season.

I like him as a person. Met him in person. Great guy.
But as a QB he is less than mediocre. He has a cannon, but that’s it. He’s got nothin w judgement, decision making, vision, leadership, pre snap read, post snap read and oh BTW his accuracy is inconsistent.

From all accounts when DJU was here he tried.
I really wish him well, except when he plays Clemson. When he plays Clemson I wish for him to have 5 pick 6 INT's. And for FSU to lose by 49 pts.
The other reason I might find it difficult to pull for him is; "he's in our conference"! When Feaster went to SCAR - it wasn't going to affect our conference championship aspirations. Do I want DJU, who when he gets hot can be a really good QB, getting hot at the wrong time? Like the Clemson week as an example. No, I do not. So as one of our most capable opponents on paper; I don't want him to be as great as anticipated. Strictly though, because it betters Clemson's chances.
When they play Florida - I will be pulling for him like he is still at Clemson. Just can't do it for someone in the conference.
Just like Ethinosa Reuben for Georgia Tech - I can't root for him to do so great that he presents a great danger to Clemson.

I was discussing this exact topic with my wife after the FSU game. I cheered for DJ at O. State last year. He is a Clemson guy. Pull for him. But when he came back to the ACC and to FSU.. Well that is one of our big rivals. I feel that is not cool. I think it was for money and to have a chance to stick it to us. That rubbed me the wrong way. I was cheering against FSU today because that helps us. But I was also happy he lost. I am trying my best not to be petty. But I would be lying if I told you different.
That said, its one game for FSU. 11 more games to play. Can either still be great, or could be a bust. If it is a bust, I am curious about the pressure on Norvell. I don't keep up with "the players market", but they flashed on the screen 5 or 6 players that they "recruited" away from some top programs. I am sure there was a price tag for each of them. I think they said there were 14 "portal" players for them this year, to go along with their roster. FSU alumni are putting up some money. Thats nice. But that means they want fast results. I just have to believe this is going to be a short fuse down there. I think if they only win 7 games, he might be gone.
A side note. With the use of the portal, and the money that takes to support the rosters , I am curious if you will start to see a shift in the coaching econmics. Money is not endless. I doubt schools are going to continue to pay coaches 10 mill a year and coordinates 1~2 million a year, and put big money in for the players aswell. Maybe it happens in the short term, but I think long term the funds run out. Maybe people start to realize these kids are not professionals yet and its not just as easy as plug and play. So coaches keep more money. Or, they tell the coach, we help you have the money to buy your team, but you will not make as much. Lots of maybes and different scenarios. Just curious how this might playout over the next 5 years.
Looking forward to our season opener next week. Hope we show up and give it our best!
Go Tigers!
