This Shaq Smith really doesn't make sense to me on the

surface. By all accounts, including Venables', he had really blossomed during the spring and was ready for his starting role. I don't get it.

Why would Shaq leave Clemson to go to a loser school like
Maryland? Doesn't make sense. Looks like a case of a lot
of hurt feelings going on.

Just like leaving early for the NFL, it is still a risk for them because they are starting over and nothing is ever guaranteed. It is weird because the 2nd stringers play a lot for the Tigers, if we’re to be designated as such.
He will get noticed if he works hard, and it could improve his stock.

The guy is an athletic freak, but watch the spring game and look at his fills. He doesn't read and react well.
Truth is, he was probably told he wouldn't start because our coaches aren't sunshine pumpers. He will take his gifted abilities elsewhere and try to get a shot at a big paycheck.
I've enjoyed watching the young man grow as a leader through the VLOGs and wish him the best.

I don't really see it as leaving early if the player has graduated, even if he has eligibility remaining.
