This nepotism is gonna hurt Clemson football….

Hard decisions are coming soon. Hiring past players and from within isn’t smart. Hope that’s a lesson learned and changes are made.

Dabo will fire friends if he thinks that’s best for the program.

I don’t think you need to worry about that. But I agree that his last 5 coaching hires have been highly highly questionable.

Dude the best RBs are playing I think that’s clear … and before you go talking about chez , yes he has looked great but that offense is literally built with OL to pound the ball and allows him to showcase what he can do..he left Leon bc he saw the OL issues and Dixon has just not progressed … he can’t block at all and seems to think he’s still in high school and when it’s clogged bounce everything outside … players are going to transfer and continue to when you recruit like we don… unfortunately it just comes with the territory of having that kind of talent at each position … Dixon goin on social media is a joke and no player should ever feel comfortable with doing that there was obviously an attitude issue with him

So what??? I bet our O-line has more stars than Wisc

But we dont get it done. We get guys that are 6'3, 6'4, 6'5, they weigh 290-320 out of highschool, yet they come to Clemson and they may weigh 10-20lbs more then they did in HS, but I still see small arms and flabby guts.
Chez Mellusi in his podcast with Rencher kept saying how much bigger the Wisky o-line was. Mentioned multiple times they were just giant dudes. But you look at the recruiting numbers and our players are every bit the same size. But 2-3 yrs into the program they are still soft, pudgy, weak looking. Look at OLine from Wisky, ND, Bama, Uga, and those dudes lose the gut, their arms get giant, and they move the pocket
I was looking at OL today and the only player that looked like they belonged on a top 5 team was Parks. That dude is good and has an attitude to play on good teams.

Well for starters I agree with everything you are talking about with the OL but let’s not act like this is a one or two year problem … if we don’t have dw4 that first title there’s no chance we win that … IMO even those lines were no where near elite or to the standard of a top 4 team year in and year out… it’s also a completely diff scheme that Wisconsin runs I don’t think they do a lot of this bs zone blocking … I wish we would man up and just block a dang man and quit worrying about if everybody is in the right spot for a little while … challenge these guys to just block the man in front of you it’s usually 6 vs 3-4 max It blows my mind … Caldwell has been an issue but again an issue that got covered up by elite qb play and more creativity when Scott was around it seemed…
My post was more about the running backs and just how it’s part of the deal when you recruit like we do… we are going to lose players when positions are 2-3 deep with talented kids… Shipley pace are better than dukes and Dixon I can promise that and most everyone would agree … so talking about spiller in his first year and we have two transfers is just kind of dumb … but I’m also pretty positive there were a couple OL with experience in the portal that could have very much helped this team and atleast pushed the younger guys along but we all know the portal isn’t an option for us

The real nepotism is yet to come. Those guys are just placeholders until the Swinney kids are ready to step in as assistants.

This is so true. You can bet that both Swinney boys will be grad assistants shortly after graduation. Not surprised the backup holder is Drew Swinney. I am sure this was pre-determined and other qualified players were told that this position was locked up for another 5 years.

If you want to claim nepotism when the Swinney kid gets a jet sweep in the fourth quarter against UConn that is legit. UConn is the only team left on our schedule that we will blow out. The kid is a very good holder. Over the years he has gotten a number of bad snaps down in time for Potter to make the kick.
There are so many valid points that can be made right now. Are we really worried about spots filled by PWOs that are being handled more than adequately.
There are still “Soiers is a bad punter “posts on this board when he has been a very good punter for the last couple of seasons. Just because a kid has a parent on the coaching staff does not mean the spot is given to them.
If the argument is that scholarship could go to an oline man, I guess it could. So could All these scholarships for players who go in the portal but we keep them on Scholarship so they graduate. That would not be consistent with the Values or Culture of the Program either.
Dabo needs to hold himself and the Offensive Coaches accountable, no one can argue that.

It don’t stop there. Our 10th year punter can’t kick it out of the secondary and every school in the country flips the field with theirs

I’ve said this before on here so if you’ve seen it please disregard. I think Dabo has a vision of a Clemson shangra la where everyone involved is a member of the CU “Family”. We now got Streeter, CJ, Grisham, Tony,Thomas Austin and Tahj waiting in the wings for a spot while Nick hires Sark, Bill O’Brien and Kiffin as OCs. His two best hires so far are Coach V and Chad M who came from outside. You have to infuse your organization with new ideas from time to time to shake things up and keep people on their toes. I remember when the Orioles fell from the top to the bottom of the American League they hired Cal Ripken’s dad and he was asked what he was going to change and he said nothing. He said the “Oriole Way” had always been good enough and it would be going forward. Needless to say they got worse I really think it has just gotten STALE up there I been goin to games up there since the 50s and there were only about 10 of us on the hill and we’d play football on the terrace and these are the best times ever. I’d just hate to see them go away due to hard headed ness

CJ needs to go, this much is apparent. I do not know what Swinney was thinking here. The running game has been atrocious since Jeff Scott left, and that is our biggest problem on offense. DJ is being asked to do too much and i am goign to take a wild guess and say that any attempt to correct his throwing motion has made him hesitant in the pocket, just a guess, because he looks great when he improvises or throws on the run. When he stands in the pocket, he looks like he is overthinking things.
