Georgia TE Arik Gilbert

I understand we aren’t likely to make any more moves. But Gilbert entered the portal a couple days ago and he would be a beast along with Briningstool and our better offense. 6’5” 250 and was 5th overall recruit in the nation out of high school as a TE.

Not character. It’s severe depression. Proud of the way the school has helped him out. It’s tough when you can’t get o`it of bed without feeling an elephant is on your chest.

Seems like maybe Clemson could be the perfect place for him given his situation. Being in a true family environment and maybe introduction of faith into his life (I don’t know whether he is religious or not). But having people around you that actually care about you instead of what he’s worth on the field could be what he needs. If in fact he desired to do so.

Clemson offered him when he was in high school (2018)...

and again showed some interested when he decided to leave LSU. He only played one season at LSU before hitting the transfer portal. He committed to Florida before eventually landing at Georgia. He then sat out his entire first season at Georgia while dealing with personal issues. In his second year at Georgia, Gilbert played in three games, recording just 2 receptions for 16 yards and 1 touchdown. During his time at Georgia, Kirby has made a number of comments that seem to imply that Gilbert does not have a very good work ethic. Not surprising that he is back in the transfer portal again. Seems like he's looking for a place where he'll be given a starting role as opposed to having to earn it on the practice field. On that basis alone, I would not expect Clemson to show any interest this time around.

Gilbert left lsu, could not get playing time at UGA - yet you praise how great he is.

You act like players haven’t played better after transferring. His size and ability is what is appealing. Didn’t get playing time at Georgia because of loaded TE room. And apparently depression.
