Will this years offense match 2011's output?

Aug 17, 2014, 4:36 PM

Very similar situations coming into the season. A new starting QB, a bunch of freshman wide receivers, replacing very experienced players on the o-line. The only difference is the 2011 OFF had a proven RB in Ellington and Cole has been learning this system for 3 seasons. Can this years offense be as productive as 2011's?

I'm predicting Peake will pick up that slack "IF" he stays healthy and is 100% all season. I'm also expecting big things from Mike Williams.

You don't replace Watkins, but the output collectively should be very similar. I think we will have less turnover and less 3 and outs. But may have less big plays. Stoudt should be solid all year. He just needs to take care of the ball and make good decisions. If he lets his play makers do all the heavy lift, I see no reason why we shouldn't have a top 25 offense.

Think it will be more of a ball control O. with more running

I think coach wants to make it look more like Auburns and will use multiple running backs - they as a whole will outgain last years by far. There will be less long passes - just enough to keep the opponents honest! And there will be better percentage passes completed but less TD passes. So overall maybe less yardage but more time for Big D to rest, and come in a shut other teams down!

I think we'll be more balanced than Auburn.

Auburn was run heavy offense , because of the talent. They had qb who was not a great passer, but a fantasic runner, and had a great tail back and offense line to run behind. And ran the read option more than and body in the country.

I think the Chad wants to run the ball more than last year, but he also wants to keep the opponents off balance. While I agree with most, who think our passing game will concentrate on the short to medium range passing attack. Chad Morris still going to take his shots down field, just to keep everybody honest.

I like what's coming. Georgia, USCjr., and the rest of the ACC; not so much.

Go Tigers!!!
