Phil Steele and the myth of the ND two-point conversion.

Dec 11, 2015, 2:22 PM

The myth of the ND two point conversion is still alive and well. Phil Steele on College Football Daily just said ND is two plays, against Clemson and Stanford, from being undefeated. He also picked Oklahoma over Clemson (surprise) and Perine to rush for more yards than Gallman.

That was worth 3 points just like

Dec 11, 2015, 2:23 PM

UNC recovering an onside kick would have been worth 9.

Not much of a gamblin man, but I'd take Gallman every time.***

Crap Logic

Dec 11, 2015, 2:57 PM

I've said it once, and I'll say it again.

That stupid logic goes both ways. If they were two plays away from being unbeaten (which isn't true on it's own merit), they were at least one play away from losing to UVA. They needed a last second bomb to win that game. The football season is a series of successful or missed opportunities, and how they all play out is reflected in the final score. ND lost two games, that is all that matters.

Yawn...just the same old same old

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's definitely annoying. If we just finished them off like

Dec 11, 2015, 3:05 PM

we should have we wouldn't have to hear that crap. Oh well. It doesn't matter now. Win two more and that's all that will ever matter.

it's amazing how people ignore the fact that we kicked the snot out of them for 3 quarters before we went a bit too conservative with the play-calling in that monsoon. But I guess people only remember what they choose to remember

They talked up Pee-Rind last year too

Dec 11, 2015, 3:43 PM

he didn't get any yards until the end of the game. I don't know why it'll change this year

Re: They talked up Pee-Rind last year too

Dec 11, 2015, 6:12 PM

Yep...he had 14 carries for 62 yards through 3 quarters, with Clemson leading 40-0. In the 4th quarter, he had 72 yards on 9 carries. That was after we pulled out defensive starters.

We were 1 play away from Auburn in 2010

Dec 11, 2015, 4:18 PM

so what

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Two "close" losses are still two losses ...

Dec 11, 2015, 5:01 PM

And almost EVERY close game has one or two plays that meant victory or defeat.

For Notre Dame those plays meant that they lost. Simple as that.

I used to enjoy reading Steele, but I can't tell if he has declined in quality or I was just too young back then.
