Four For The Playoff Why wait until Tuesday night to see how the CFP should be seeded and bracketed? The Dash offers the weekly insight right here, as always predicated on the theory that today is Selection Sunday.
Peach Bowl
Top seed Tennessee (18) vs. fourth seed Ohio State (19) The Volunteers (8–0) were extremely impressive in destroying Kentucky, 44–6, on Saturday. It was Tennessee’s fourth straight game scoring 40 or more points, and it was the best performance to date by the Vols’ defense—season lows allowed in total yards (205) and yards per play (3.25). Next up for Tennessee: at Georgia in the SEC East Armageddon game.
The Buckeyes (8–0) had a big win of their own, going on the road to Penn State and trailing before exploding for 28 points in the final quarter. This was a weird game, far from the fast knockouts of recent weeks, but it was also the best opponent Ohio State has faced to date, and in a difficult venue. Next up for Ohio State: at Northwestern in what should be an avert-your-gaze blowout.
Fiesta Bowl
Second seed Georgia (20) vs. third seed Michigan The Bulldogs (8–0) won an eventful Cocktail Party game against rival Florida in Jacksonville—jumping to a 28–3 lead, seeing that shrink to 28–20, then running away again at the end. Georgia topped seven yards per play for the third straight game and Brock Bowers continued to reinforce that he is the best tight end in the country (five catches for 154 yards). Next up for Georgia: Tennessee between the hedges Saturday, amid massive stakes.
The Wolverines (8–0) also rolled in a rivalry game, although the 29–7 victory over Michigan State was completely overshadowed by the postgame tunnel violence. Michigan was good in all three phases of the game but again struggled in red-zone execution, kicking five field goals. Next up for Michigan: at Rutgers on Saturday.

Clemson unbeaten as ACC Champ is in. Unless Clemson' blows it, they are in. No one will take an SEC team that does not even make it's champ game over a Champion that is undefeated.

What part of the OP do people not understand??? The premise is...assume today is selection Sunday. Not assume Clemson goes undefeated, not that Mich beats OSU, not that etc etc. Nobody is saying that an undefeated ACC Champ gets left over a one loss SEC team!! It's AS OF RIGHT AT THIS MOMENT.....frankly, I have no argument with the those 4 - AS OF RIGHT NOW! That will not be the ranking if Clemson wins out. Period!

Johnstone,
I have to admit that I (the OP) misread the article when I posted this./ You are right. Pat is saying here is where we stand right now.
What I am saying is that this is easily where we could be at the end of the month. If Georgia wins out and Tenn has only a close loss to Georgia, they could both easily be in the CFP.
If OSU's only loss is a close one to Michigan, they could both bein the CFP.
These things could happen even if Clemson goes undefeated - what with our lackluster 2021 season and our rapidly diminishing SOS hanging around our necks.
Could we really make an unassailable argument, that we are a better team than Tenn or OSU given the above circumstances ? Don't tell me it's never been done before (leaving out a undefeated conference champion). Give me some evidence that Clemson is better than Tenn or OSU.

Unless he feels like we lose one which is a real possibility considering how we played last Saturday. Each week is really a new season and right now everyone saw us fall flat on our faces against Syracuse. Clemson can change that perception this Saturday

I still feel we become the first 13-0 champ to be screwed we face Alabama in the Orange Bowl.

These hypothetical matchups based on who voters have put 1-25 make zero sense. If there is zero chance of these four teams making it...and zero is exactly the probability. Only one of these matchups is possible, and it would more than likely be Georgia at 1 vs Michigan at 4.
I also grow tired of hearing the talk of "we have to get the best four teams in the country into the playoff." No, you have to make sure THE BEST team in the country gets into the playoff, and then that team takes care of business and wins it. If Michigan loses to OSU, it is not the best team in the country. Bama lost to UT and is not the best team in the country. Either UGA or UT loses their brag of best team in the country on Saturday. Let's say Georgia wins out. Ohio State wins out. Those two teams should be in, plus two more teams that have not already lost to those teams. Clemson and ... is it gonna be TCU?

Tenessee, if they lose to UGA and then UGA wins the SEC. The only time a one loss team that did not win their conference should get in, is if all the other conference champs have two losses.
A one loss ACC champion should get in over a one loss team that did not win their conference...every time.

It’s extremely lazy - a conference has sent 2 teams

Only twice in the existence of the playoff. 2017 an 11-1 Bama edged out a 2-loss BIG10 Champ. If Wisconsin wins over OSU in the B10 champ instead of losing 27-21, they would have been in over Bama and there’s a decent chance we win 3 NCs in a row or at least pay for it that year. The 2nd time was last year when there were no other P5 champs with 1 loss remaining. The pool of candidates was so depleted an AAC team made it. Any 1 loss in champ better be praying for 2 loss champs across the board

I think Clemson will win out including the ACC championship. Y’all need to pull for my Tar Heels to win out until the ACC championship. Clemson needs to face a highly ranked team in the title game. A dog from the coastal will not help you.

in Charlotte include at least four all-blue Tar Heels, so they're hoping upon hope to see them in the ACCCG, also.
When I asked them which team would win, they politely deferred...didn't want to p*ss off their Clemson Uncle! LOL.

Smart family. Keep the family happy. Honestly, like me, they know we won’t beat Clemson. But making it to the title game would be a great accomplishment for us.
