"Stealth’ Omicron Cases Doubling Every Week in the U.S.

Skawwie headline. Then you read:
BA.2, or “stealth” omicron, was responsible for 8% of coronavirus infections in the U.S. last week, the CDC estimates. That’s up from 4% the week prior and 2% the week before that.
Now that doesn't mean CASES have doubled. The PORPORTION of all covid cases that are BA2 has doubled. If BA2 was 4% of cases, and the other cases declined by 50%, then BA2 would "double", even as cases decline. Last week there were 330,000 covid cases in the US. Week before that, 465,000. So CASES are declining. The portion of the new ones that are BA2 are increasing, but overall cases are still in decline.
Here's the deal. BA2 is worse, more severe, more transmissible, etc. BUT, BA1 blew through the US and we all got it BEFORE BA2 came along. As such we have some immunity to it, meaning it won't cause cases to climb (much) again. Now, those places unlucky enough to be seeded originally with BA2 (HK, Den, Finland, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, etc.), those places saw more severe cases and more deaths.
Then you have the stealth BS. It just means we're not lucky enough, as with BA1, to tell the variant based on a common PCR test alone. It takes sequencing to detect BA2. So it's harder to confirm. That's all. Nothing "stealthy" about it.
Point is whatever variant you start out with in a spike, is what you end up dealing with. What comes later matters little as you already have population immunity. You then have to wait until a whole new variant (not sub variant) comes along, to see cases spike again.

Honestly the scariest part of covid. At some point someone will connect the dots between long covid and people quitting jobs, labor supply issues, and inflation. There are many other studies of other impacts. Heart impacts, pulmonary thromboses seem to more common now, even with mild cases. There's the neurological impacts, then the blood impacts. Cell death is impacted. And innate immunity is impaired. All of this stuff is in mild as well as severe cases, and no one knows how long these impacts may last.
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-022-04569-5SARS-CoV-2 is associated with changes in brain structure in UK Biobank - Nature There is strong evidence for brain-related abnormalities in COVID-191–13. It remains unknown however whether the impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection can be detected in milder cases, and whether this can reveal possible mechanisms contributing to brain pathology. Here, we investigated brain changes in 785 UK Biobank participants (aged 51–81) imaged twice, including 401 cases who tested positive for infection with SARS-CoV-2 between their two scans, with 141 days on average separating their diagnosis and second scan, and 384 controls. The availability of pre-infection imaging data reduces the likelihood of pre-existing risk factors being misinterpreted as disease effects. We identified significant longitudinal effects when comparing the two groups, including: (i) greater reduction in grey matter thickness and tissue-contrast in the orbitofrontal cortex and parahippocampal gyrus, (ii) greater changes in markers of tissue damage in regions functionally-connected to the primary olfactory cortex, and (iii) greater reduction in global brain size. The infected participants also showed on average larger cognitive decline between the two timepoints. Importantly, these imaging and cognitive longitudinal effects were still seen after excluding the 15 cases who had been hospitalised. These mainly limbic brain imaging results may be the in vivo hallmarks of a degenerative spread of the disease via olfactory pathways, of neuroinflammatory events, or of the loss of sensory input due to anosmia. Whether this deleterious impact can be partially reversed, or whether these effects will persist in the long term, remains to be investigated with additional follow up.

Fascinating that medical authorities have identified this latest version of Covid-19 as causing serious neurological problems. This is terrible.
The US DoD (Dept. of Defense) has a comprehensive data base similar to the VAERs database, except that servicemen are required to report adverse effects from the Covid-19 vaccines. (The better known 'public' VAERs database gets information voluntarily.)
WI Senator Ron Johnson has been holding forums about Covid-19 vaccine adverse effects. A lawyer for 3 DoD whistleblowers (Thomas Renz) has asserted that the DoD has been covering up the ~ 10x increase in neurological disorders in servicemen who had never had Covid-19, but all of whom had been required to get the Covid-19 vax. Mr. Renz's clients assert that the DoD has 'edited' the records in their VAERs database to hide this enormous surge in adverse neurological events.
What a terrible coincidence that the newest version of Omicron is associated with neurological events ... at ~ the same time as the DoD / VAERs / neurological disorders matter is getting ready to go to court.
Danged if you do (the vax) and danged if you don't (do the vax).

conditions, still, in 2010. It's long been known to cause neurological problems. They knew this all along. Also a shame they said the vaccine would work since this coronavirus is "slow to mutate". Lol, below is every single known covid variant. Slow my ###.
